Knight and Family of the Month Awards

One of our newest members has already distin-guished himself as a "Knight in Action". Most re-cently he accepted the challenge of documenting the history of our Council. He also volunteered for our Fish Fry and Card/Games Social fundraisers and the A & P Club. For his service to the Knights of Colum-bus and St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, Council 6646 is pleased to honor Brother Ralph Boeckl as its Knight of the Month - January, 2016. This Past Grand Knight has also performed the duties of our Worthy Recorder during his 22 years as a member. His carefully crafted minutes of our monthly council meetings were routinely "accepted as read." Additional responsibilities at his parish re-quired him to request a replacement. Fortunately, he will continue to volunteer for our Fish Fry and Tootsie Roll Drive fundraisers. In recognition of his dedicated service to the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Good Hope Parish Council #6646 hereby honors Brother Edward Hubbard as its Knight of the Month - February, 2016.

Family of the Month Awards

This couple's 20 years of volunteering for many of our service programs and charitable works, included the Tootsie Roll Drive, Cards and Games Social, and the Knowledge Contest. They accomplished this while being heavily involved in parish activities. In recognition of their service to the Knights of Colum-bus and St. Matthias Parish, Council 6646 is indeed pleased to honor Brother Don and Lady Jennifer Vaclav as its Family of the Month - January, 2016.

For 16 years this K of C couple has contributed much to the success of our Tootsie Roll Drives and Cards and Games Social fundraisers. Describing them as active members of their parish would be an understatement. Council 6646 extends its congratu-lations on the occasion of their 59th Wedding Anni-

versary and is most pleased to honor Brother Norb and Lady Dorothy Whittle as its Family of the Month - February, 2016.

As we begin the second half of the 2015-16 Fra-ternal Year I'd like to thank my fellow officers for their support and encouragement. I'm particularly grateful to our Worthy Financial Secretary Ed Las-kowski. His responsibilities are both demanding and time consuming. Your willingness to pay your annu-al dues in a timely manner eliminates the need for additional reminders and saves postage. Should the need arise for a dues waiver do not hesi-tate to notify Ed - your request will be respectfully granted. You must take the initiative to maintain your membership! It is my sad duty to mark the passing of Brother Joseph Nadolski and Lady Betty Rivard. May the Lord greet them in their heavenly home. It behooves me to extend my personal thanks to Brother Ed Hubbard who has served admirably as our Worthy Recorder. Ed's parish responsibilities have increased and he asked to be replaced. I would be pleased to hear from a Brother willing to serve as an interim officer. (You must be a 3rd De-gree member.) When the Order was founded in 1882, Father Michael J. McGivney and the original members set out to protect Catholic families, especially wives and children. Today this is done through our insurance products which are designed with that goal in mind. One specific policy rider that you may not know about is called Spousal Waiver of Premium. This rider is unique to the Knights of Columbus' philoso-phy of helping our widows. This rider is available on most permanent and Discoverer plans purchased at standard rates by a member and his wife on the same day. When both spouses apply, the rider pro-vides for waiver of premiums on the spouse’s con-tract in the event of the insured’s death. Best of all, for members and spouses ages 18 to 60, this waiver can be added at no charge. The rider stays in effect until the spouse attains age 65 or certain other trig-gering events occur. Our products are designed with your needs and budget in mind. With a solid portfolio of life insur-ance, long-term care, disability income and retire-ment products, the Knights of Columbus can help you meet all of your financial goals. To learn more about these solutions, contact me today.

Fond Farewells

Brother Joseph Nadolski, a 30year member, was reunited with his Lady Phyllis on January 3, 2016. Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a Knight in Action, especially during our Tootsie Roll Drives, and, along with his wife, was very involved in church activities at OLGH. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Fr. Mike Barrett at Our La-dy of Good Hope. He was assisted by Brother Bob Moranski, Dennis Pehoski, and Peter Schulteis. Lady Betty Rivard entered Eternal Life on Janu-ary 7 2016. she is survived by Brother Cletus Rivard. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Monica's Church.

With half of the fraternal year now behind us, it is fitting that we acknowledge those who comprised our contingent of volunteers at Our Lady of Good Hope’s October 9th and December 11 Fish Fries. The following served on one or both dates by setting up or taking down the tables and chairs, greeting and hosting, waiting on the guests, clearing tables or washing dishes – in some cases, in multiple capacities: Bill Bergeron Ralph Boeckl Lary and Marie Brushafer Steve Gaenslen

Mike and Mary Jansen Frank Kostuch

Ed Laskowski Phil McCarthy and Barb

Bob Moranski Jim and Rita Neuner Tim Nighbor Paul Rudawski Peter and Alice Schulteis Eric Timm

Tod Wanta Walt Wochos

The parish pays for our services with a share of the proceeds from these events. We use those funds to provide scholarships to several graduates of our local schools who opt to continue their educa-tion at Catholic high schools. The work of our faith-ful volunteers enables us to provide that support and is, therefore, greatly appreciated. In the second half of the fraternal year, we will provide help at the parish’s February 10 (Ash Wednesday) and March 18 Fish Fries. Even if you haven’t volunteered previously, please consider doing so. Our “veteran” workers will provide “on the job” training for the simple but satisfying tasks involved!

Thank you for your generous donation of $200 - your financial support truly does save lives. Samuel Isaiah was nearly aborted at the Planned Parenthood facility in Appleton, Wisconsin nine years ago. Thanks to you and the many pro-life heroes across Wisconsin, that very same abortion facility has closed its doors! Cindy, Samuel's mother, recounted on the Pro-

Life Wisconsin Facebook Page how close she came to ending her son's life at that horrible place. " When I met the abortion doctor, I felt a terrible presence of evil in her office. I left after what they call "counseling" (It wasn't) with them thinking I would come back in 24 hours for the pills to end my baby's life - he was 7 weeks 6 days to be exact. I asked about an ultrasound, and that abortion doctor lied to me saying the fetal tissue was like a grain of sand...when I already knew after lots of research what that baby looks like, and it was nothing like a grain of sand. I went to my motel and cried and cried and begged God to help me. I got the Yellow Pages and started call-ing churches for help. Finally, a secretary at a church in Kimberly, Wisconsin, told me stop by. She prayed, lis-tened, shared her own story of a 15-week abortion she had many years before, and how the damage was done and that she never got to be a mommy. She brought me to a pro-life crisis pregnancy center in which I saw 8-week-

old and 12-week-old miscarried babies in jars. They were fully formed babies. I sobbed at the thought that I could have gone back in 24 hours and taken those pills. I am thankful this place is closed.

Dan Miller State Director

Editor's note: Dan is also the "Culture of Life" Direc-tor for the Wisconsin State Council of the Knights of Columbus. His all out efforts to defend the UNBORN deserve YOUR financial support and your prayers!

Additional acknowledgements of charitable dona-tions: $200 - O'Meara Life Resources, Inc. $200 - Catholic Relief Services

$200 - St. Francis de Sales Seminary

$100 - St. Lawrence Seminary

$100 - The Guest House

Ed. Note: Council 6646 remains committed to our Order's First Principle - CHARITY!

Council 6646 took advantage of the Supreme Council's "Coats for Kids" initiative and donated 2 boxes of winter coats (12 for boys - 12 for girls) to Fr. Gene's HELP Center. Thanks to Brother Bob Moranski the HELP Center was able to purchase additional coats at a very reasonable price.

Pope Francis' Day of Life Greeting

"Even the weakest and most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn and the poor, are masterpieces of God's creation, made in His own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost rever-ence and respect."

The "Birth" of Planned Parenthood

Though she was born into a Catholic family, Mar-garet Sanger became a vehement opponent of the Catholic Church. In 1921 she founded the American Birth Control League, known today as the Planned

Parenthood Federation of America. Her primary goal was to eliminate "unfit" and "eugenically un-sound" populations - certain immigrants, African Americans, the intellectually disabled, etal. (Does Hitler's final solution" come to mind?) Today Planned Parenthood masquerades as an organization that offers WOMEN a full spectrum of "health care" and that ABORTION only accounts for a small fraction of its services. Nothing could be further from the TRUTH! In 2013 thanks to an annu-al income of $1,150,400,000 (Yes, that is over ONE BILLION DOLLARS) which included $261,100,000 in government support, this abortion giant, us-ing the shield provided by the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade decision, performed a staggering 327,653 surgical and chemical abortions! In the same year it provided 18,684 "prenatal services" which were outnumbered by ABORTIONS 16 to 1! Not all of Planned Parenthood of America's 665 "clinics" perform "late term abortions (20 weeks and beyond) but, some, like Affiliated Medical Services on Farwell Ave. in Milwaukee, have a disposal prob-lem - environmental laws prohibit throwing aborted fetuses (DEAD BABIES) in the garbage. (Some use heavy duty disposal units - Hitler used high capacity crematoriums). It was certainly no surprise to learn that at least SIX Planned Parenthood affiliates have received money for aborted BABY BODY parts. Abortionists, their assistants, and clinic operators have NO qualms about dismembering a VIABLE BABY nes-tled in a MOTHER'S WOMB! Thank God for the Supreme Council's launch of its Ultrasound Initiative on January 22, 2009. To date this Life Saving program has funded and placed 644 ultrasound machines - valued at $33,000,000 in all 50 states! Only God knows how many baby boys and girls have been saved by providing a "window" to their mothers' wombs. You can be assured that He also knows who helped defend them - was it YOU?

Peter and Alice Schulteis

Pro-Life Chair Couple

Editor's Note: At the age of 28 Kathleen Bravo had been forced to have an abortion. Months after amid a time of darkness she decided to go to church for the first time in 8 years. At the end of Mass a pa-rishioner spoke about a Pregnancy Help Center in need of volunteers. Sensing an opportunity, Kath-leen prayed: "O God, if you would bring me just ONE woman and I can share with her what I went through, and she does NOT ABORT, I can forgive myself." In the 36 years that have passed Kathleen has touched the lives of thousands of women and saved 6840 BABIES! She has founded six pregnan-cy resource centers in southern California which have received 8 ultrasound machines funded by lo-cal K of C councils and the Supreme Council's Ultra-sound Initiative!

The South Hall at Our Lady of Good Hope was filled with gemutlichkeit (cordiality) as our guests thoroughly enjoyed playing cards - cribbage, poker, sheepshead, UNO - while feasting on chili, sand-wiches, snacks and beverages. The luckier ones took home raffle prizes: liquor/wine packages, gift certificates or cash! Special thanks to the Scout Troop 7 leaders who volunteered for the snack bar, Ed Hubbard and the set-up crew, kitchen coordinators Alice Schulteis and Dorothy Whittle, the chili makers and a wonder-ful group of donors and/or volunteers. The proceeds will support Troop 7's Camping Fund and bolster our Council's Scholarship Fund. It was a most enjoyable evening!
