RED NOSE DAY
Don’t forget we are sell-ing red noses at break-
time each day from Monday 11th March and they are priced at £1.25 each (they are available
on a first come first served basis). Also, children can come
dressed in red on Friday 15th March for a dona-
tion to this charity. Thank you.
World Book Day was a great suc-cess with reading being celebrated
throughout the school. The chil-dren looked wonderful in their cos-tumes; many thanks to all involved and for their amazing creative out-fits. It was such a difficult decision to choose a costume prize winner from each class. Thanks to all the
parents and carers who kindly gave up their time to read to the
children in class. Also, a big thank you to our amazing kitchen staff for
a lovely themed lunch—Can you spot Wally?
Whole School Trip to MOSI Thursday 14th March
Just a reminder about our
whole school trip to the MOSI next Thursday 14th March.
Children should come to school in their school uniform as normal on this day. They do not need to bring in their school bags but will need a
water bottle, either disposable or a named bottle. Also, if
your child is bringing in their own packed lunch it should be
in a clearly named disposable bag. We are looking
forward to a great day out at the
Museum.

PTFA Fun Run Sunday 10th March 2019
This Sunday the PTFA has organised a 1 mile fun run and a 10k run around New Longton. I am sure you will have seen some of the signs that have appeared around the village. In order to ensure the safety of all runners taking part (currently over 200), we have asked for volunteers to act as marshals on junctions, corners and crossings. thank you to all those people who have come forward to help to date. To help make the event a success it would be great if we could get more marshals. If you are available and/or know somebody who could help out, we would be very grateful. Volunteers need to be at school at 9.30 am on Sunday to collect a high vis vest and be allocated a ‘spot’ etc. The fun run starts at 10.00am with the main event starting at 10.30am. It should all be over within a couple of hours. We are also serving tea and coffee at school and have asked for donations of cakes biscuits for refreshments. In addition, any donations of bottles of wine would be greatly appreciated as these would be given as prizes. If you are able to help in any way, please could you let us know or call in to school at 9.30am on Sunday morning.
Thanks in advance
The PTFA
Kind regards,
Mr Maloney

International Women’s Day 8th March 2019
In class today, children were learning
all about famous and inspirational
women who have helped to shape
our world. Many thanks to Mrs Burns
who sent the book featured in the
photo. It's made its way around all
the classes and the children have
loved finding out about these truly
amazing women.
