Take a look at our website for a taste of what children have managed to achieve. Come and See Please take a few moments to look at The Spring Term overview for Come and See. As the first educators, you can make a difference in the depth of knowledge and understanding your child gets from these topics. A prayer to say as a family: Dear Jesus, Fill my heart with your love and help me to share it with everyone I meet. Help me to shine with your light. Amen Action I met this week with parents of First Holy Communion candidates for St Joseph’s Parish and asked them to buy a good children’s bible. Take some time to look at The Presentation of the Lord in the Temple (Luke 2:22-40). Maybe think about how we can share the light and then do it! Missio Missio have been organising Prayer Buddies in school and are preparing a Collective Worship to be delivered later this term. Watch this space. Let’s get reading! Thanks for all who have responded and now have the login for the Reading Buddy App. This is a great, fun resource. Working together we can make a huge difference. Please take some time with your child to get to know the App. The quizzes are fun. Remember to help your child choose a Reading Buddy. Governor Update We welcome Helen Brennan, mother of Orla as LA Governor. Thanks for stepping up and volunteering to help work with our pupils and our school to become the best that they can be. Keeping ourselves healthy Please could you remember to pay/ send Fruit and Toast money Please work with us to keep the bugs at bay. School Nurses and teachers have modelled how best to wash hands. To prevent the spread of bugs this term will you revisit with your child daily the importance of washing hands with soap before eating and after using the toilet. Teaching and Learning We have been looking at teaching and learning in Religious Education this week and I must share with you how engaged children are in all classes. This has been reinforced by a recent visit from our Support Advisors. Please help at home to reinforce independent learning, encourage children to struggle with problems and have a go at solving them in different ways. Encourage children to have a range of strategies for when they are stuck. School Council The School Council have been working on what will replace the Castle which will be taken down at half term. Provide an education that develops the spiritual, academic, wellbeing and moral aspects of each individual. 2. Celebrate through prayer, liturgy and worship, allowing pupils and staff to develop and grow in their love of God. 3. Foster Gospel values in an environment which encourages the understanding of the needs of everyone. 4. Make Christ and his values known to all and be of service to society. 5. Work with parents as the first educators and continue to develop close relationships between home, school and parishes. Rooted in Christ the children aim to: 1. To love God and be the very best that we can be. 2. Celebrate through prayer and worship our love of God. 3. Love one another. 4. Walk in the footsteps of Jesus to help others. 5. Work together to make our school the best school it can be. The next Family Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 9 th February 2020. Children are invited to wear red or yellow. WELSH WEEK 2ND – 6TH M

A Family ‘Welsh gig’ performed by Bronwen Lewis has been

arranged for Thursday 5th March, at 5.30 to 6.30pm – venue

to be arranged. More information with ticket prices and

venue to follow.

on Monday 2nd March at 10.00 in St. Joseph’s Church -
