God the Almighty has blessed us with another New Year. The whole world rejoices and this New Year has brought a lot of expectations in each one of us.. On 26th January, Republic Day is celebrated through out India. It is a nation wide celebration. In every field of life, the citizens of India have started following the democratic principles. State level celebration of this month is Pongal festival. It is one of the symbols of Tamil culture and tradition. Tamilians thoughout the world with great enthusiasm and joy celebrate this festival irrespective of caste, creed and religion. All these celebrations reveal the spirit of fraternity, unity and liberty. Above all, we are now in the beginning of the third, very short and important term of the academic year. This term is very important to you my dear students, especially to the students of X, XI, and XII std. You have big dreams in your life. Scoring good marks demands persistence, hard work and self sacrifice. Keep on putting efforts inspite of falls and set backs. Visualize your goal and march towards it. There is nothing so precious as the present moment. So learn to live in the present. Your present thoughts and hardwork determine your future. Be responsible to yourself. “Self trust is the first secret of success” says, Emerson. Trust yourself and think and say to yourself often, “I can I will.” Keep silence when you are expected to. The various local dates for New Year’s Day was changed to using one fixed date January 1. In Latin America, various native cultures continue the observation of traditions according to their own calendars.
