The concept behind this new process is to open up several degrees of freedom that were not easily obtainable with our previous standard designs. With this new manufacturing process, Riverhawk has the ability to create custom parts like never before. Functionally, the Lamellar Pivots work similar to our standard cantilever and double ended flex piv- ots, and should complement both lines well. This process will lower the cost of custom pivots and the use of custom materials. The new design will also allow options to be grafted into sub assemblies and potentially create new mounting methods. DouBle enDeD Pivot BearingThe Double Ended pivot bearing is engineered for higher radial loads. The bearing is constructed from AISI 410 and 420 corrosion-resistant steel. How it Works: With both ends fixed, the center portion of the bearing is free to rotate.applications: Typical double ended pivot bearing applications include wafer handling systems, surface metrology equipment, material handling systems, and semiconductor equipment.

CantilevereD Pivot BearingThe Cantilevered pivot bearing is the most common free-flex pivot. The bearing is constructed from AISI 410 and 420 corrosion-resistant steel.

How it Works: One end is fixed or supported, permitting the opposite end of the bearing to rotate.applications: General cantilevered pivot bearing applications include gimbal rings, optical scanners, satellites, and laser guidance systems.

Custom Designs AnD mAteRiALsRiverhawk’s experienced engineering staff has designed and manufactured flex pivots that reach beyond our standard catalog product offerings. Such designs have included: longer lengths, special materials, flanges for mounting, tailored torsional and radial spring rates, grooves for adhesive mounting and flats for set screw mounting. We are fully capable of special designs and sub-assembly integration. Please contact our engineering staff to begin your design process.

LineAR fLexuRe beARingThe Linear flexure bearing is engineered for linear travel and designed to act as a self-centering mechanism.

How it Works: As one mounting block is held stationary a horizontal force is applied to the other mounting block. The flexure elements then bend in an s-shape curve allowing a relative horizontal displacement to occur between the two mounting blocks. Applications: Common linear flexure bearing applications include thrust measurement systems, vibration dampers, shaker tables, and other various industrial automation applications.
