Project Idea: Watercolor Sea Scape

Materials Needed:White Cardstock PencilsOil PastelsBlue Tempera PaintNewsprintBrushesBowl

Instructions:This project requires a bowl of very watered down blue tempera paint and a larger brush. Prepare a blue paint station with newspaper on one desk. Have each child draw a picture of the sea with pencil on card stock. It could involve boats, animals, etc. When satisfied, color in with oil pastels. When they are done, have them come to the blue paint station, and brush on a coat of watered down blue paint on top of the drawing. The oil pastels will show through the blue glaze. Allow time and classroom space for them to dry. These works look great displayed together in the hallway!
