NEW: REFORM METRAC H7 RX

02 reformer 01/2016

Good partners, dedicated staff, innovative technology, and a strong market position – these were the basis for a successful year for REFORM with record sales: We thank you all for your trust and good cooperation. The past year had many highlights, there was a dazzling display of new products: Muli T10 X HybridShift, Metrac H7 X, and Metrac H8 X, Mounty 110 V, the hydro mower RM 25, and the new 3B engines as well as the Euro 6 engine for the Muli series.

“Technology at its best” – this, of course, also applies to 2016: Metrac H7 RX and G7 RX as the new spearhead in the RX category and the Twister for the hydro mowers have thrilled at their first introductions. But there is also news from the REFORM Group: At the end of 2014, Kiefer GmbH, Municipal and Cemetery Technology, was acquired and has since been welcomed into the REFORM family in close consultation with the previous owners. This means a substantial reinforcement in the municipal sector. The Kiefer portfolio and the REFORM master range – Metrac, Mounty, Muli and the motor mowers – provided for a remarkable push forward: there was an increase in sales of over 20 %. Indeed there have been considerable achievements at REFORM, and the fireworks of new developments will continue in 2016. You’ll find more information in this issue of the Reformer.

I wish you happy reading and every success in the 2016 season.

“Remaining strong in mountain agriculture and strong growth in the municipal sector” – the strategy of REFORM-WERKE was literally a program also in the past fiscal year.

REFORM IS GROWING

In December 2014, REFORM-WERKE Bauer & Co Holding AG acquired Kiefer GmbH Municipal and

Cemetery Technology in Dorfen (Erden County, Germany), continuing its strategic growth in municipal technology. A detailed presentation of Kiefer GmbH and its product range can be found on page 10.

From Scandinavia to New ZealandBut the growth of REFORM-WERKE is noticeable far beyond the “REFORM core markets”. For example, REFORM increased its activities in Scandinavia in the past fiscal year to reposition its product range. Among other things, in May 2015,

Growth at homeLast but not least, the growth of REFORM-WERKE is clearly visible also at its home location in Wels. In fiscal year 2014/15, several construction projects were launched, providing the necessary backing for the growth course of the company. For example, the new production hall for the customer service workshop and production expansion was completed at the end of 2015. Now, on 13,000 sq.ft., equipped with state-of the-art equipment, customer service and production are prepared for the increasing order situation. The well-being of the company’s employees was not neglected: changing, sanitary and shower rooms have been fundamentally renovated in the social building. But this is not the end of the construction projects: this year, the steel construction manufacturing section and the welding shop will be renovated; a total of EUR 3.3 million have been approved for the “REFORM 2020” construction project; the total budget is more than EUR 8 million. ▪

a multi-week “REFORM Scandinavia Tour” was organised with the help of local REFORM reseller partners, presenting the REFORM range at numerous trade fairs in Finland, Sweden and Denmark. Also the UK, Benelux and Eastern Europe accounted for further sales growth. The goal is to build more dealer partnerships in the coming years and to strengthen existing dealer networks.

A special highlight in terms of geographic market extension:since 2014, a Metrac H7 X has been in use for mowing work at the airport in Auckland, New Zealand. To further establish the awareness in this particular market, a market exploratory mission was carried out in March to Australia and New Zealand during which numerous talks were held with various companies and users to perfectly position REFORM in these markets. Also in 2016, further “REFORM future markets” will be screened to assess and take advantage of worldwide sales potentials with different target groups.

The Metrac H7 RX with hydrostatic drive (alternatively, the two-axle mower is available also as a gear-type Metrac G7 RX) is the new spearhead of the REFORM mid-range. The new models in the two-axle mower segment score with innovations in exterior design, interior, engine, and much more.

NEW SPEARHEAD OF THE MID-RANGE

METRAC H7 RX / G7 RXNew designThe new exterior design is not only pleasant to the eye, but also focusses in particular on ease of maintenance and serviceability. New arrangements of external controls increase operator comfort and hence ergonomics. By attachment elements, the mudguards can be adapted to the respective tyres, protecting the vehicle even better against soiling. An optional roof lighting in LED technology is available, which not only ensures a longer service life of the lighting, but also better visibility at night or in poor weather conditions.

Comfortable interiorThe ergonomic cab presents itself in a modern and innovative design. The new interior impresses with technical highlights such as the height and tilt-adjustable steering column, as well as generous storage space and media holders for smartphone and much more. An on-board computer with a central colour display completes the attractive appearance. The new air conditioning ensures comfortable use even on hot days.

New multi-function lever and control groupsThe new multi-function lever simplifies operation and ensures safe and efficient operation in all situations. It is now possible to operate the central functions, such as front and rear linkage, easily and accurately with one switch. All controls are grouped ergonomically and clearly according to function and are within the driver’s reach – so he has everything under control and can fully focus on his work.

Powerful, environmentally friendly engineThe 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine of emission stage 3B is powerful and environmentally friendly at the same time. Equipped with a particle filter, it impresses with 70 hp, high pulling power, smooth running, and long service life. The 250 Nm torque already at 1,000 rpm delivers excellent engine output with power to spare in any situation.

Metrac G7 RX gearboxAlso in the future, REFORM will rely on the tried and tested model version of a gearbox model. The Metrac G7 RX is available with up to 12 forward and 12 reverse gears.

Highest lifting forces in its classThe Metrac H7 RX / G7 RX has by far the largest lifting capacity in its class. Front and rear linkages lift unbeatable 1,500 kg. The maximum permissible gross weight is 3,800 kg. These ratings allow safe and efficient work with numerous attachments. The front and rear linkages are equipped with hydraulic vibration damping. This means: An extra plus in comfort and safety for the driver and long service life for the Metrac by reduced load.

Concept characteristics maintainedThe tried and tested REFORM Metrac advantages such as final drives in the axes, 4 steering modes (front, rear, crab, and 4-wheel steering), separate oil uses, extreme slope capability, optimum soil protection and a multitude of tyre options are of course available also in the new Metrac G/H7 RX models. During its development, our engineers took care to keep the compact dimensions of the Metrac’s typical design.

Diverse applicationsBased on the aforementioned characteristics, the Metrac H7 RX / G7 RX is the optimal answer to diverse requirements in year-round use. Whether mowing, tedding, swathing, mulching, road cleaning or winter service, with the Metrac G/H7 RX, REFORM customers always have a reliable partner at their side – 365 days a year. ▪

CUSTOMERS AND THEIR REFORM MACHINES

3..2..1..Action!REFORM Muli ensures perfect film shotsThe fact that REFORM Muli has versatile uses has been demonstrated many times. But the combination of the Muli with a studio camera crane is unique.

The idea for this unusual arrangement was born by ARRI Rental in Germany, a company that provides its innovative technical equipment for film sets around the world. A Muli T8 S as a base vehicle for a camera crane was perfect since the REFORM Muli optimally combines important features such as compactness, manoeuvrability and off-road capability.

Early practice makes perfect! Little Alex Haslacher from Landeck in Tyrol is testing the comfortable seat in the Muli T5 of his great-uncle. As it looks, with positive results ...

Esbjerg municipality relies on REFORMEsbjerg, with about 115,000 inhabitants, is the seventh largest city in Denmark and lies in the southwest of the country. Since November 2015, the first REFORM Metrac has been in use here as well. A Metrac H7 SX is the faithful companion of the about 100 men strong municipality team, assisting it in the maintenance of dams and rainwater retention basins. The crucial factor in the purchase was in particular the combination of low construction height (the area includes a large number of trees) and the high power reserves of the compact two-axle mower. ANOTHER 2 MULI T10 X FOR WATERCOURSE MAINTENANCE (AWEL) OF THE CANTON OF ZURICH (SWITZERLAND).

Gresten, about 25 km from Wieselburg in Lower Austria, is the site of the agricultural and forestry business run by the Plank family. In addition to dairy and cattle farming, the adjacent forest needs to be cherished and maintained as well. For many years, the Plank family has relied on REFORM. The Metrac 2004 and Motor Mower M2 D at the farm received another reinforcement in May 2015.

Already in autumn 2014, two REFORM Muli T10 X could be delivered to the Hinwil and Obfelden locations of the watercourse maintenance of the Canton of Zurich. And in July 2015, another two Muli T10 X with Euro 6 engines were delivered and deployed, this time to the locations in Adliswil and Andelfingen, because watercourse maintenance operations have to manage a huge area. 34 km of rivers

and streams in the Adliswil region and 102 km in the Weinland region must be cultivated and maintained by the crews. Here, the Muli T10 X demonstrates its versatility and benefits on a daily basis. No matter how steep and demanding the terrain, with its 109 hp Euro 6 engine, the Muli T10 X handles every obstacle. Even when rough terrain demands maximum ground clearance (400 mm)

between the wheels at a low centre of gravity thanks to portal axles.Another new feature is the Lüönd rear loader with rotor unit developed specifically for municipal use. For heavy-duty tasks when loading reeds and branches, the loading rotor conveyor system is very sturdy and wear-resistant.

The newcomer: a Muli T6 3B with multi-cut loading wagon, manure container and manure spreader, which the Steyr Center in Lower Austria West delivered to the family. The Muli has been regularly in use ever since, demonstrating its power even in the steepest terrain sections in the Gresten operation. Farmer Franz Plank appreciates in particular the power of the Muli T6, especially on steep slopes.

The impressive backdrop of the Wiener family’s Hotel “Mondseeblick” in Innerschwand

at Mondsee alone would have been well worth a visit. The opportunity to test the new REFORM Muli T10 X HybridShift at this unique location was an idea that found a very wide response among the approximately 10 press representatives from Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. The editors, who had reported about the new REFORM product nearly a year before, could hardly wait to test the vehicle live. Quite some journalists got behind the wheel and travelled for more than 7 hours to be rewarded with exciting new impressions and driving experiences. 2 Muli T10 X HybridShift were tested, one with extension arm boom flail mower and one with built-on self-loading trailer. The new Metrac H8 X was there as well and helped in forage harvesting, which the excited press representatives took directly into the cowshed by means of the Muli T10 X HybridShift. Particular praise was expressed for the comfort and driving pleasure, and working in hydrostatic mode. Driving and testing went on until the late afternoon hours. The Media Day concluded with a joint dinner and an exciting exchange of experience.

In the summer of 2015, nearly one year after the presentation of the Muli T10 X HybridShift, the demand on the part of the international trade media remained high to test the innovative transporter in practical use. Therefore, on 8th July 2015, REFORM-Werke organised an International Media Day in one of the most beautiful areas of Austria, where the flexible transporter could demonstrate its strengths in agricultural and municipal applications.

REFORM MEDIA DAY

MULI T10 X HYBRID- SHIFT

08 reformer 01/2016

Muli T10 X HybridShift - From idea to successMuch has happened since the presentation of new products in November 2014. The last tweaks to the Muli T10 X HybridShift were optimised, and the transporter went through extensive tests with regard to driving characteristics, ergonomics and comfort. The Muli T10 X HybridShift was also presented at 2015 trade fairs, such as the municipal trade fair, Interagrar Wieselburg and Austroagrar Tulln in Austria, the Demopark in Germany, SIMA and Salon vert in France, as well as Elmia Park in Sweden and at the Lepaa in Finland. The applications for the innovative transporter are manifold: for mowing, loading and transporting, road and site cleaning, as well as winter service applications, the Muli T10 X HybridShift is the first choice. This is not least contributed by its unique concept, which combines the advantages of the hydrostatic drive in working mode with the mechanical drive in road mode. Especially in typical stop-and-go applications such as washing of reflector posts and traffic signs or waste collection, the transporter is unbeatable. And what is especially gratifying, the Muli T10 X HybridShift, among others, has been awarded several prizes, the Agricultural Fox in gold (Innovation Prize of the Agraria 2014) and the German Design Award. ▪

Dorfen, about 50 km northeast of Munich, is the headquarters of Kiefer GmbH. Kiefer GmbH

currently has 100 employees and for nearly 40 years has specialised in the production of municipal vehicles and cemetery excavators of the “BOKI” brand. The company has made itself not only a name with this brand, but captured also a leading position in the market. Both product lines are sold to municipalities, funeral parlours, horticulture companies and private service providers, also in other European countries, from Norway to Austria, Portugal and Slovenia, among others. Sales is going particularly well in France and Benelux.

BOKIMOBIL

family. The different types of HY 1352, HY 1252 or HY 1251S and 1152 are available with external widths between 1.20 m and 1.70 m. Various attachments for municipal landscaping can be selected, from a sickle mower with grass and leaf vacuum container to a road sweeper, an irrigation system, as well as flail mower and hedge trimmer. The BOKIMOBIL is also well prepared for winter service. Snow blower and snow plough as well as either a sand and salt spreader with activatable spreader plate or an automatic top spreader are the tools of the trade here.

BOKI excavatorKiefer GmbH now offers different excavator types for different applications: the hand-guided compact excavator type 2552, optionally with piano or joystick control, or as BOKI compact excavator type 2552E. Through its narrow external width, it is ideally suited for tight areas where the manoeuvrability of a tricycle excavator is important. A remote-controlled model completes the portfolio. More powerful mobile excavators for wider roads with hydrostatic drive and fully hydraulic all-wheel steering with four steering modes are also available from Kiefer for types 2651, 4551 or 6552. ▪

Kiefer GmbH presents its BOKIMOBIL municipal vehicles again and again in a new design and with new technology. Consistent further development led to more safety and greater ease in the cab. Ergonomics at Kiefer: innovative design has achieved excellent all-round view with clear functionality. The hydrostatic municipal vehicles BOKIMOBIL 1252 HY and HY 1352 combine compact dimensions, maximum agility and powerful performance. The narrow-gauge vehicle is particularly suited to work in confined spaces such as cleaning and maintenance of old city areas and pedestrian zones, but also for winter service and in particular for mowing applications. The BOKI-MOBIL type 1152 with manual gearbox supplements the BOKI-MOBIL

KIEFER GMBHIn December 2014, REFORM-WERKE Bauer & Co Holding AG acquired Kiefer GmbH Municipal and Cemetery Technology in Dorfen. It's time to introduce this successful company in the County of Erding in Germany.

TWISTER HAY RAKE PRESENTATION IN TYROL

On 13/6 and 25/6/2015, the hill above Neustift in the Stubai Valley and Matrei at the Brenner Pass in Tyrol was the site of a rare spectacle to watch.

Two motor mowers, equipped with the new Rapid hay rakes “Twister”, had only one goal: to rake the

man-sized forage down the steep slope with more than 80 % gradient and an area of 2.5 ha as quickly as possible. This was achieved in record time of only 2.5 hours.

More than 25 invited customers and spectators had come to attend this unique demonstration. “Twister” is the name of the new attachment from Rapid, and it

really lives up to its name. That’s because the forage is picked up by the unit and literally “turned down” onto the ground via the metal tray.

The Twister hay rakes, available in widths of 140 and 180 cm, are mounted to the single-axis unit (e.g. REFORM RM7 and RM8 or Rapid Rex and Swiss), representing a revolutionary alternative to the tedious manual work using hand rakes and hay forks.

PrincipleThe hay or forage is collected by a light-weight plastic pick-up and gently placed in a swath onto the ground via a metal tray. The tines are not controlled, and the forage is properly separated by a combination of flexible tines and specially shaped scrapers made of hard plastic. Since large parts of the machine are made of plastic and aluminium, the Twister with its 75 or 91 kg (depending on the working width) is a true lightweight.

The advantagesThe convenience and time savings compared to the traditional manual work are tremendous. This was clearly shown by the demonstration. A special surprise: the more forage was collected, the more precise the devices worked. Although the Twister is recommended only for dry forage, the demonstration showed that under given circumstances, the hay rakes can handle even freshly mown green forage.

The resultConclusion: the Twister works more quietly and more environmentally-friendly than any hay blower and many times more efficiently and cleanly than a hand rake. So a unit with Twister replaces several people with hand rakes. This was also the experience of the many helpers with hand rakes who were on stand-by to remove any remnants from areas that were difficult to access. But this was no longer needed after the end of the demonstration, much to the surprise of the entire audience. The Twister can be ordered already and will be available on the market for the hay harvest in 2016. ▪
