As part of the celebration, a-ha has unveiled HUNTING HIGH AND LOW: 30th ANNIVERSARY SUPERDescription:DELUXE EDITION. The set boasts four CDs and one DVD, plus a 60-page hardback book filled with rare photos andstories about the making of the album. Available September 18th, the set includes a remastered version of the originalalbum, which has sold more than 10 million copies since its 1985 debut. The set also features various b-sides andmore than two dozen rare and unreleased demos. Also featured is a full version of the album in early and alternatemixes. Unheard and all released for the first time.

Pal WaaktaarandMagne Furuholmen, formerly of Bridges formeda-hain the early '80s.Morten Harketjoined the duo,and they left for the now "legendary London flat" (so called because of its state of disrepair) to make it. By late 1983they had achieved part of that goal by signing to WEA. "Take on Me" took three times to become a hit in the U.K.,eventually hitting number two in November 1985. Going one better in the U.S. mainly due to the wide exposure of itsstunning video on MTV, which fused animation with real-life action, their only further hit there was "The Sun AlwaysShines on T.V." which became a U.K. number one in early 1986 helping take the albumHunting High and Lowto theTop Ten. Mostly an album of synth pop, the press were quick to dismiss them as a teeny bop sensation; however,there was more toa-hathan met the ear inWaaktaar's writing, and a more mature effort,Scoundrel Days, was releasedin October 1986. More focused, it had a stronger band feel thanks to its live drumming, displayed to great lengths on"The Swing of Things and lead single "I've Been Losing You" -- a shock to critics at the time. Further striking imageryaccompanied "Cry Wolf." After a world tour,a-hasupplied the soundtrack to the James Bond flickThe Living Daylights.A remix appeared on their third album,Stay on These Roads, in 1988. Considered lackluster,Stay on These Roadsdidfeature some interesting lyrics in "Blood That Moves the Body," regarding the over-intense affection the Japanese hadfor popular icons in their kamikaze-like suicides. On a lighter note, one of the famous quotes of this period camefromWaaktaar: commenting onDef Leppard's success withHysteria, he scoffed thata-hawere more rock & roll! In1990,a-hawere commended bythe Everly Brothersfor their rendition of "Crying in the Rain" from their fourth album,Eastof the Sun, West of the Moon, which was largely ignored in the U.K. due to a shift in interests toward dance and theManchester scene. 1993 heralded some much needed new blood in theU2terrain of "Dark Is the Night" fromtheMemorial Beachalbum. Following the unfortunate lack of success followingMemorial Beach,Furuholmenretreatedinto the art world whileWaaktaarreleased the albumMary Is Comingwith his new bandSavoy. Seven years after therelease ofMemorial Beach,a-haissuedMinor Earth Major Skyin summer 2000. 2002'sLifelinessold well in Europe andwas followed by a lengthy tour, documented on the live albumHow Can I Sleep with Your Voice in My Head, whichwas released in 2003. A year later the band celebrated their 20th anniversary by releasingSingles 1984-2004, acollection that would put them back on the U.K. Top 20 Albums chart. In July of 2005 the band performed in Berlin aspart of the massive worldwide event Live8. In November they released the new albumAnalogue. Apart from nods to classics likeWhite Christmas done by Otis, Booker T's "Jingle Bells," and the R&B favorite "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve"(featuring Sax man King Curtis along with a guitar solo by Duane Allman), the songs are tailor-made originals that fitthe style of the respective artists. Bjellandformed Babes in Toyland in 1987 in Minneapolis, after playing around San Francisco for several years in variousbands which featured, at various times, Jennifer Finch of L7 and Courtney Love of Hole. After releasing a single onSub Pop's singles club, Babes in Toyland came to the attention of Sonic Youth, who took them on a tour of Europe.Soon, they recorded their abrasive debut, Spanking Machine, with producer Jack Endino; one more independent EPfollowed before they signed to Reprise. Glassjaw formed from the ashes of New York hardcore band Sons Of Abraham and originally existed as a "weekendoutlet for the individual members."Long Island, NY-based progressive hardcore band Glassjaw was formed by singerDaryl Palumbo and guitarist Justin Beck in 1994, longtime friends who began collaborating as teens. Roster changesregularly plagued the influential group during its formative years, with guitarist Todd N. Weinstock, bassist ManuelCarrero, and drummer Sammy Siegler completing the lineup for Glassjaw's 2000 debut album, Everything You EverWanted to Know About Silence. Siegler was replaced by ex-Orange 9MM drummer Larry Gorman for the band'ssummer tour in support of the Deftones. Carrero was also replaced by Dave Allen. Two years later, Glassjaw inked adeal with Warner Bros. and issued Worship and Tribute in July 2002. The band slowly became less and less active,seeing more membership changes in late 2004 when Weinstock left to pursue his own band, the retro-dance outfitMen, Women and Children, and Manuel Carrero rejoined in place of a departed Allen. Singer Daryl Palumbo's sideproject, Head Automatica, also took Gorman away, Durijah Lang coming on in his place.
