New Robert Keenan Winery Tasting Room Open for Visitors
The Really Big News: the newly renovated Keenan Tasting Room is finally open and ready to welcome
visitors! From the newly designed entrance to the expanded tasting bar and the beautiful wood floors
inlaid with the Keenan logo, we were careful to keep the warm character and rustic lodge ambiance of
Keenan that visitors to our estate have come to know and appreciate. Easily accessible balconies bring
the beauty of the mountainside indoors, offering expansive views of the Keenan Napa Valley
vineyards—it’s easier than ever to see why we love the Spring Mountain District. Make one of your
holiday priorities a visit to Keenan Estate –we’re eager to show off our new home!
The Fall Season heralds a wonderful change of scenery in all of Napa Valley, but especially here on
Spring Mountain as we celebrate the close of another successful harvest season. 2014 was an especially
excellent vintage year for our estate – Michael Keenan believes this year will produce the very best—
and largest—crop of Cabernet Sauvignon he’s experienced in Napa Valley.
Vines that were heavy with fruit just a short month ago have turned a spectacular orange and red color
as they prepare to go dormant until next year. In the winery, fermentation is complete and the wine is
aging in barrels. As the excitement of the fall harvest season comes to a close, we can look forward to
the New Year and the arrival of late spring, when the new vintage of Keenan white will be released.
Another reason we love this time of year is the highly anticipated release of the next vintage of our
marvelous Mailbox Merlot! The Mailbox Merlot vineyard is situated on steeply terraced rows directly
beneath the winery, and this beautiful three-acre block produces exceptionally rich, deeply flavored
fruit. (There’s a spectacular view of the Mailbox Vineyard from one of the new balconies in the Keenan
Tasting Room!) One hundred percent Merlot, the 2011 Mailbox offers hints of violets and an earthy
spiciness in the nose. Chocolaty creaminess and rich, dark fruit combine with a beautifully layered, deep,
elegant, and extremely long finish. The Mailbox Merlot is handcrafted in very small lots – only 200 cases
are produced. We’re offering a maximum of three bottles of this wine to each customer, and at $64 per
bottle, it’s definitely one you won’t want to miss!
Robert Keenan Winery produces nearly 14,000 cases per year. The reputation of the Keenan Merlots
was solidified in 1988 when tastings of the Keenan Merlots against the world famous Petrus wines
(Merlots) resulted in a virtual draw.
Robert Keenan Winery in Napa Valley California combines both the art and science of winemaking with a
relentless passion for producing fine wines for your enjoyment. From using only the finest grapes to the
Portuguese cork in the bottle, the Keenan commitment to quality is consistent. The wine is testament to
these efforts. One taste and you will note the Keenan difference. However, why limit yourself to only
one taste?
