All but one pairing in the Section VI C and D boys' basketball brackets were decided over the weekend.

In the D tournament, Cattaraugus knocked off Chautauqua Saturday, 64-42, in a quarterfinal game to advance to the semis. The Big Red's opponent will be the winner of tonight's Clymer-Sherman matchup. The semifinal contest will be played Wednesday with the site to be announced.

In the top bracket of the D tournament, Franklinville upset the Ellicottville Eagles Saturday, 88-80, to earn the right to face No. 1 Pine Valley. The top-seeded Panthers destroyed Brocton Friday night to advance to the semis, 71-49.

In the C tournament, No. 1 Burgard outlasted Trott Saturday afternoon, 95-83, and will meet Salamanca Wednesday a t 6 p.m. at Erie Community College North in one semifinal game.

The other final four contest will pit Falconer against John F. Kennedy on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at E.C.C. South.

The D finals are Saturday at University of Buffalo's Alumni Arena at 12:45 p.m. The C championship game follows at 2:30 p.m. C a t t a r a u g u s 64,

The defending D champions led by just three at the holf,

"We played inept in the first half," said Cattaraugus Coach Rick Feuz.

Cattaraugus opened the first half with a 10-0 burst, but then cooled down.

The Big Red controlled the boards in the second half and opened a 12-point lead at the end of three quarters, 42-30.

T h e difference in the second half was our job rebounding," said Feuz.

Scott Mikowicz had 11 rebounds and teammate Shawn Phinney 10 for the Big Red.

Chautauqua opened the third quarter in a tight zone and the Big Red responded with three consecutive three-point field goals by Darrin Daly, Ellis and Nate Young.

Ellis' 20 points put him at 899 for his career, breaking the school record of 891 previously held by now-Salamanca Coach Pete Weishan.

Also scoring in double digits for the Big Red were Daly 13, Mikowicz 14 and Young 12. F rank l inv i l l e 88, Ellicot
