PRAYER OF THE DAY
Almighty God of love and amazing grace, with joy we celebrate the day of our Lord’s resurrection. On this day Jesus overcame our sin and death, and opened for us the gate of eternal life. Fill our lives each and every day with Easter joy, renew our faith, and help us to share your love in all that we say and do. We pray in the name of Jesus and through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Christianity and World Religions new sermon series begins after Easter
We are called to follow as his disciples throughout our lives. Along the journey we will meet others in our religiously diverse society who have strong-held yet distinctly different ideas and beliefs. If we are to engage in meaningful dialog, undo stereotypes and promote a climate of peace in our world, it is essential that Christians seek to understand the faiths of others, exploring respectfully both similarities and differences. In doing so we also learn more about our own faith and why it matters so much to us. We will explore Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam and Judaism, describing their origins, some fundamental teachings and distinctive practices, and their unique contributions to our world. Together we will seek ways to build bridges with others so that we can grow in faith, love our neighbor, and find positive ways to share the Gospel.

Calvary Holy Land Pilgrimage #2 We are in the early planning stages for our 2nd Calvary Holy Land Pilgrimage. This amazing experience of a lifetime offers the opportunity to walk where Jesus walked as we explore the biblical sites in Jerusalem, the West Bank , Galilee and more. At the same time we will have opportunity to develop lasting relationships with the Palestinian members of our companion congregation at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem, as well as others in the ELCJHL and region. In addition we will gain insights into the current peace and justice complexities of the situation in the Holy Land and view it from fresh perspectives. Finally, we will have great fun together as a group as we share new experiences and grow in faith through worship, prayer and reflection. Depending on interest and scheduling we are considering 3 possible trip dates - spring of 2013, fall of 2013, or spring of 2014. If you are interested in learning more please indicate by contacting Pastor Jonathan, Scott Thams, or any of the Holy Land Pilgrimage #1 participants. You can also call the church office. Growth Groups will meet at 10:30am Sunday morning, 10am Wednesday morning and 6:45pm Wednesday evening to continue the learning and discussion on this important topic.
