` Moor is a type oforganic mud created by the gradual

decomposition of plant matter in a permanently

    humid environment.

    ` Types of moor:

    1. Flat moor

    2. High moor

    3. Deep moor

` Deep moor developed over a long period of timethrough a geological process whereby the layers ofmoor are pushed deep beneath the earths surface.

` As a result of the high compression fromgeological pressure), the moors therapeuticcomponents are highly condensed andconcentrated.

` As such, deep moor has by far the highesttherapeutic and cosmetic benefits.

` The earliest records of its use come from the great medical

minds from the Egyptian era, who described the use of moor

deposited by the river Nile as a major healing medium.

` Early 3,000 years ago, the Romansand the Celtsused moor to

    treat their wounds.

` In the 16th Century, the famous alchemistParacelsus,

described moor as the Soul of life, because he considered moor

to be the ultimate medication of life.

` Numerous clinical studies on moor therapy have since been

carried out (commissioned by the German andAustrian

    governments, among others).

` Color is simply light of differentwavelengths and

    frequencies .

` Light is just one form of energy that we can actually see

that is made up from photons.

` Each color has its own properties, unique wavelength and

    frequency .

  • 8/8/2019 New Techniques in Physical Therapy

    19/61

` The retinas in our eyes though have three types of color

receptors in the form of cones.

` We can actually only detect three of these visible colors ( red ,

blue and green ) which are calledAdditiveprimaries.

` It is these three colors that are mixed in our brain to create

all of the other colors we see .

  • 8/8/2019 New Techniques in Physical Therapy

` The seven colors of the spectrum all have varying

    wavelengths and frequencies.

` Red is at the lower end of the spectrum and has the highest

wavelength and lowestfrequency , unlike Violetwhich is atthe top end of the spectrum with the lowestwavelength and

    highestfrequency.

` Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses thefingers to press keypointson the surface of the skin to

stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.

` When these points are pressed, they release muscular

tension and promote the circulation of blood and the

body's life force to aid healing

` Acupunctureand acupressure use the same points, butacupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the

gentle but firm pressure of hands (and even feet).

` The Chinese discovered more than 5,000 years ago that

pressing certain points on the body relieved pain where it

occurred and also benefited other parts of the body more

remote from the pain and the pressure point.

` Gradually, they found other locations that not only

alleviated pain but also influenced the functioning of

    certain internal organs.

` Local symptoms are considered an expression of the

condition of the body as a whole.

` A tension headache, for instance, may be rooted in the

shoulder and neck area. Thus acupressurefocuses onrelieving pain and discomfort as well as on responding to

tension before it develops into a "disease" .

` By using a combination of self-help methods such astrigger pointstimulation, deep breathing, range-of-

motion exercises, and relaxation techniquesto improve

` Acupressure seeks to cure diseases by restoring the

imbalance of energy flow in the human body.

` As per the basic principle of the therapy, energy is

constantly flowing in the human body along definedpathways known as meridians.

` A disease occurs if this energy flow becomes excess or

deficient, gets impeded or counter-flows due tovarious external or internal factors.

` The Chinese make no distinction between arteries, veins,

or nerves when explaining function of the body.

` Concentrate on the system of forces that regulate all

    bodily functions.

` Qi (pronounced che exists in everyone & controls allaspects of life)

` Qi is governed by two opposing forces, Yang (positive) &

Yin (negative) forces. Disease results from some

imbalance between these two forces.` Yin & Yang pass flow through passageways/lines in the

body called jing (Chinese) or meridians (West).

A number of points known as acu points are located along

these meridians and control the flow of energy on these

pathways, just the way electrical switches/regulators

control the flow of current in a circuit.

Stimulation of these acu points with pressure using

specific techniques corrects the energy imbalance along a

meridian and the disease gets cured.

` Of the hundreds of acupressure points on the body, most

either lie underneath major muscle groups or follow the

bone structure, residing in the joints or in the hollows of

    bone.

` In order to find an acupressure point with your hands, concentrate on feeling for a muscular cord or a hollow in

    the bone structure.

` Feel for a slight indentation or depression between the

tendons and muscles at each point.

    ` Once you have found a muscular cord, press directly on it;

or if you feel a bony hollow, slowly press directly into it.

` Several different kinds of acupressure are currently practiced,

although the same ancient trigger pointsare used in all of

    them.

` Varying rhythms, pressures, and techniques create different

styles of acupressure, just as different forms of music use the

same notes but combine them in distinctive ways.

` Shiatsu Massage, for instance, the most well-known style of

acupressure, can be quite vigorous, with firm pressure applied

to each point for only three to five seconds.

` Another kind of acupressure gently holds each point for aminute or more. Pressing with an intermittent, fast beatis

stimulating; a slower pressurecreates a deeply relaxing effect

    on the body.
