Canada Line Bridge Connections
Opportunities we are building on
Challenges the design must consider
• Two-way separated bike lanes already exist on the east side of Cambie Street, between SW Marine Drive and 63rd Avenue.
• Canada Line Bridge is excellent for walking and cycling between Marpole and Richmond.
• Transportation 2040 identifi es this location as one of the top priorities for improving conditions for cyclists and pedestrians of all ages and abilities, particularly those commuting between Vancouver and Richmond.
• CPR railway crossing - Ash Street is currently the only crossing location near the bridge. We are unable to establish a crossing at Cambie Street.
• On Kent Avenue North, high motor vehicle volumes and a high percentage of truck traffi c makes it very uncomfortable for people to walk or cycle on the roadway.
• On Cambie Street, south of SW Marine Drive, transit operations are very important. Buses exit the bus loop regularly.
• Business access on Cambie Street south of SW Marine Drive is an important consideration.

The plan proposes expanding the ‘all ages and abilities’ (AAA) network of high standard local street bikeways and separated bicycle lanes. Early candidates (subject to public consultation) are shown here.
Priority will be given to critical gaps, areas with high existing or potential ridership, andopportunities as they arise through other projects.
