WAKE UP TO 2021, what we hope will be your best year yet! This brochure, unlike those you have received in the past, is dedicated entirely to community education. NIACC Continuing Education is excited to bring you this new and improved way to easily find and register for classes that interest you. We hope you will look forward to finding us in your mailbox every few months, bringing you a wide variety of fun and beneficial learning opportunities.

Our goal in Continuing Education is to bring training, development, and enrichment opportunities to each of the communities we serve. Whether you are looking to improve your job-seeking skills for a new employment opportunity or just wish to explore a new hobby, we have classes for you!

To adjust to the changing needs of our learners, we have upped our live online offerings. Choose from a variety of take-from-home classes, including Safety in the Digital World and Spanish in the Workplace. Middle- and high-school students can look forward to an online spring break camp where they will explore additive manufacturing (more commonly known as computer aided drafting and 3D printing). This is a great way to introduce our youth to the wonders of technology! We also have some online cooking classes in store, which include The Splendors of Vietnamese Cooking and The Joys of Jewish Cooking. You will find more information about these classes and many others in the pages that follow.

We look forward to seeing you in class soon. Stay safe and healthy!

technologyA Beginner’s Guide to ZoomUnable to communicate face-to-face, many have resorted to connecting with others through phone calls and emails. While convenient, these methods take away many important aspects of communication. Whether you’re interacting with a colleague or a grandparent, being able to view nonverbal cues and shared images (such as a PowerPoint slide or a child’s artwork) enriches any conversation. The need to see one another is why video-conferencing has become so popular. If you would like to take advantage of the benefits of this communication tool but are unsure of where to begin, A Beginner’s Guide to Zoom is for you! In this class, you will:• Learn to navigate the popular (and free!) Zoom platform.• Confidently present webinars.• Host and attend meetings or friend & family gatherings.

It’s all about...ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Explore Additive Manufacturing! Spring Camp (grades 5-12)Looking for a fun and engaging learning opportunity for your teen this Spring Break? We’ve got you covered with our new Explore Additive Manufacturing! virtual camp, where middle- and high-school learners (regardless of technical expertise) will develop an understanding of and enthusiasm for additive manufacturing, commonly known as Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D printing.

Why is it important to understand additive manufacturing? This technology not only prepares young learners for a variety of future professions, where the use of CAD and 3D printing is growing rapidly; it also provides students with opportunities to stretch their creativity as they experiment with ideas and bring their visions to life.

This three-day camp takes place in a hands-on virtual learning environment. In addition to exploring the basics of CAD software and 3D printing, participants will design and create their very own product. Learners will kick off each morning virtually, learning how to design for and operate 3D printers. Then, in the afternoon, they will work on challenges and projects of their own. Students can then sign up for a time to come in and print their own unique project.

Monday - Wednesday3/15/21 - 3/17/21 | 9 AM-12 PMOnline (live)Instructor: RiesenClass #7782 | Tuition: $59
