    Road ProjectNovember 13, 2012, 6:12pm

COTABATO CITY The government will start constructing next month, with the help of Saudi Arabia, a 14-kilometer

peace diversion artery as an alternate route connecting this city to the southern side ofMaguindanao province

    and General Santos City.

The Saudi Fund for Development has earmarked P709.3 million for the project, which would include three long

bridges over three rivers cutting across the planned road.

Senior officials of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) said the Saudi fund assistance was committed several

years ago in support to the government peace initiatives in Mindanao.

Representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) accompanied Maguindanao First District

Representative Sandra Sema in inspecting over the weekend portions of the proposed route.

The project will connect the strategic Cotabato-General Santos Highway to this city through Barangay Daiwan in

    Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

Sema said she and her constituents are grateful to Saudi Arabia, to President Aquino, and to DPWH Secretary

Rogelio Singson for having downloaded the road construction package for implementation next month. (Ali G.

    3. Peace JournalismCooperation Vital In Solving Territorial Row Chinese ExecBy ROY C. MABASA

    November 12, 2012, 7:08pm

BEIJING, China The Chinese government has accused several countries involved in a territorial

dispute with China such as the Philippines, Vietnam, and Japanas having shown the tendency of

talking only without attending to the issue and not following the principles set forth in the

Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC).

Some countries show very little interest, Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Director General Luo Zhaohui told Manila Bulletin in an interview at the sidelines of the ongoing 18th

National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held here at the Great Hall of the People.

Talks are important but practical cooperation is equally important.

Luo noted that what the DOC, which was signed between China and ASEAN (Association of SoutheastAsian Nations), stipulates that disputes should be addressed bilaterally and in a friendly manner

    through negotiations.

Now there are changes in political will in some parties, he stated. In particular, some parties would

like to make the issue multilateral which runs counter to the DOC.

    4. Creative JournalismThe unbelieversBy ELINANDO B. CINCO

    July 22, 2009, 1:42pm

They cast doubt on their countrys political, social, and historical achievements, and worse they subscribe to a

conspiracy theory in most aspects of Americas greatness. They comprise only six percent of the 280 million

    population of the United States.

Recently, they surfaced quite prominently while the US was celebrating the 40th Anniversary July 20, 1969 of

    the Moon Landing.

The July 18, 2009, issue of The New York Times weekend supplement in the Manila Bulletin, carried an intriguing

feature article entitled, A Vocal Minority Insists the Landings were Faked.

John Schwartrz, the author, begins by saying that those unbelieving Americans are convinced without coming up

with solid evidencethat the landings were faked and could not have happened.

Its a pity. While the world watched on that July 20 evening at exactly 9:56, at the NASA headquarters in Houston,

Texas, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin step down the ladder of the Apollo 11 lunar module, a minority group of

Americans, of all people, saw fakery all over!

One of those doubting conspiracists, according to the news feature, is Bart Sibrel, a movie filmmaker. One day,

while hounding the Apollo astronauts with a copy of the Bible, insisted that the three heroes swear on camera they

had indeed walked on the moon.

Bayan-anihan aims to help eradicate hunger by empowering poor families to producetheir own food through backyard or organic farming, says Tony Meloto, founder of GawadKalinga. Likewise, it aims to launch 2,500 farms in the next three years and tocontinuously feed at least 500,000 people.

Previously, the Bayan-anihan had its soft launching five months ago during which aceremonial planting was done simultaneously in 115 communities all over Luzon andsome areas in the Visayas.
