Development activities are the specific activities that employees should take to close knowledge, skill, or capability gaps identified in the Area for Development. They can be items such as formal learning activities, requesting coaching support, or relevant on-the-job activities that help employees develop in the identified areas.

To add a development activity, click the Add New Development Activity link below each Area for Development. You will be presented with 3 options:• Add from Learning Catalogue: Learning Courses can be added as

development activities by searching the Learning Catalogue and making a selection.

• Search by Capability: Learning courses can also be searched based on the RBC Capability identified in the Area for Development.

• Add New Development Activity: This option allows you to add your own custom development activity.

Add from Learning Catalogue

1 To add a development activity from the Learning catalogue, click the Add New Development Activity link below each Area for Development and select the Add from Learning Catalogue: option.

2 Place/hover your cursor over the course you would like to add and click on the Add to Learning Plan option when it appears.

3 The message Already on plan will appear on screen to confirm it has been added to your Development Activity.

4 Click Done to finish.

New Ways to Add Learning Programs to Your Development Plan

Search by Capability

1 To add a development acti vity from the Learning catalogue based on the RBC Capability identi fi ed in the Area for Development, click the Add New Development Acti vity link below each Area for Development and select the Search by Capability opti on.

2Uncheck this box to see all courses available by capability

3Select the course you want to add by checking the box next to it.

4 Click the Assign butt on to add it to your Development Acti viti es. If you click Done without assigning the course it will not appear on your plan.

5 Click the Done butt on to fi nish.

Add a New Development Acti vity

1 To add a custom development acti vity, click the Add New Development Acti vity link below each Area for Development and select the Add New Development Acti vity opti on.

2 Acti vity Descripti on: Enter a descripti on of the development acti vity that you identi fi ed to help with this Area for Development. You should discuss these acti viti es with your manager in your regular coaching discussions.

3 Resource/Support Required: Add any Resources or Support required for this acti vity. For example, you may need to enroll in a learning program or spend ti me with a peer coach.

4 Kind of Acti vity: Click the Kind of Acti vity drop-down arrow and select the acti vity type: formal learning, coaching, or on-the-job experience.

5 Status: Select one of the Status opti ons: Planned, Enrolled, On track. You should update this status as you work through the acti vity.

6 Start/End Date: Enter the Start and End Dates for the acti vity.

7 Acti vity Results: Note your progress on the acti vity in the Acti vity Results fi eld. Discuss your results during your regular coaching meeti ngs with your manager.

8 Click to save the development acti vity, close the window, and return to the development area.

NOTE: Fields marked with an asterisk * are required.
