Juice Cleanse Myth: I need to detox to be healthy. Fact: The body is always detoxifying itself through the liver, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract. These organs are always cleaning the body and you do not need to follow a juice cleanse or follow a liquid diet to be healthy. Gluten Free Myth: A gluten free diet promotes weight loss. Fact: Gluten-free is a medical nutrition therapy for the management of Celiac Disease or a gluten allergy not a weight loss diet. Most people have no problem digesting gluten and gluten-containing grains have many other beneficial nutrients! If you feel better without gluten or limiting it you can do so safely, but it is not a weight-loss diet. Low-Carb Diets (Atkins) Myth: Carbs cause weight gain. Fact: Not all carbs are bad. Fruit and vegetables have carbs and they are full of nutrients. The key to a healthy diet is balancing your carb intake and choosing healthy carbs, like fruits, over unhealthy carbs like sweets. The right balance of carbs is also the best way to control blood sugar.
