MICHIGAN STREET 2-WAY CONVERSION & WEST STREET IMPROVEMENT
RebuildIndy is Mayor Greg Ballard’s initiative torestore deteriorating thoroughfares, residentialstreets, sidewalks and bridges as well as to addressneighborhood drainage and flooding issues. Thisinvestment continues to transform neighborhoodsthroughout Indianapolis.
These projects create local jobs and increase publicsafety for neighborhoods and residents, whichsupports Mayor Ballard’s commitment to make
Indianapolis a more livable city.
PROJECT SCOPE
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works will convertthe existing one-way Michigan Street through IUPUI’scampus to a two-way street, from West Street to WhiteRiver Parkway. The work mirrors a similar project on NewYork Street to calm traffic and increase pedestrian safetythroughout the campus. The project will include a two-way, mostly off-street bicycle lane and improvements tothe Michigan Street/West Street intersection.
