HOW IS NEW ZEALAND?

New Zealand is an island country situated in the south-

wester Pacific Ocean. It measures over 268,021 km2 and it’s formed by two main islands, the North

Island and the South Island, and numerous smaller islands (most of them are uninhabited) like Steward Island

orthe Chatham Islands. It has a lot of volcanoes and mountain peaks and a long coastline. Its capital is Wellington, being its largest city Auckland, and it population is about 4,027,947 people whick mostly speak English but Maori or indigenous languages

too.

TYPICAL CLIMATE

New Zealand climate varies a lot depending on the location, the proximity to the sea, the mountains,…The weather is mostly a temperate, oceanic climate which has cool summers and warm winters, with constant temperatures and precipitations dispersed through the year.But sometimes it changes in some places: for example, the North Island part has a subtropical climate with warm seasons while the South Island has a continental climate with really wet days.

TEMPERATURES AND RAINFALL

Temperatures and rainfall vary depending on the place you are. We’ll use some

examples to show it: Northland(North), Christchurch(center) and Queenstown

(South).New Zealand temperatures are usually mild and the days are

sunny,but for example winters are cooler in the south part like in Queenstown

than in the north part like in Northland, which are about ten and fifteen

degrees Celsius.Most New Zealand cities have a high average rainfall distributed

through all the year, between 650 and 1500 mm of precipitation. Although,

Christchurch isdrier than the other ones, while Northland is wetter.
