PlacesThere are so many brilliant places to discover in New Zealand we can’t fit them all on this map! But here are a few suggestions: check out Rotorua’s geothermal reserve, the grandeur of Mt. Cook, adventure capital Queenstown, cosmopolitan Auckland or the wonders of Franz Josef Glacier and Milford Sound with AAT Kings’ expert Tour Directors and Driver Guides.

It’s about experiencing new things, learning something new and engaging with the people and the culture of each destination. We’ve got

covered

Our peopleAt AAT Kings we pride ourselves on having the friendliest and most experienced Tour Directors and Driver Guides in New Zealand. We’ll provide the commentary, stories and insights that will bring each destination you visit to life. We’ll provide advice, recommendations and directions and reveal ‘Hidden Gems’ you simply couldn’t experience if travelling on your own. We’ll share our love of travel and put a smile on your face.

Our historyAAT Kings’ story began in the 1920s when the Pyke family pioneered coach touring in Australia. Starting with self-drive car-hire in 7 seater vehicles in Sydney, we later expanded to guided sightseeing tours. By the 1960s, the company, then known as AAT, had become Sydney’s largest tour operator and in the 1980s we teamed up with pioneering adventurer Bill King’s outback tours to form what we know today as AAT Kings. We branched out across the ditch in 1999 and haven’t looked back since.

The leaderWith more than 85 years experience, we’re consistently recognised and awarded by our industry and are committed to maintaining this high standard and creating a memorable experience for our guests.

A stress-free holiday We take care of absolutely everything, so there’s no detailed planning required by you other than finding the time to go and choosing the right holiday for you.

Tread lightlyAt AAT Kings we’re serious about our commitment to the community and the environment. See page 55 for more information or visit: treadright.org

Queenstown is one of my favourite places to take guests. Helping guests get a buzz from all the adventurous activity on offer is rewarding.

meet Bridget, tour Director

Introducing our guests to local food and wine is always a highlight. Local cheeses produced in the Gibbston Valley are my favourite. Guests really relax while tasting cheese with a glass of wine in hand.

meet Kevin, tour Director

My favourite part of the job is sharing my Maori culture with people from all over the world. I love New Zealand and I am proud of my people and land. I hope I convey that feeling as I share my favourite places and stories with guests.

Tastes of NewZealand

At AAT Kings, we love to see our guests bonding over a wonderful meal, relaxing with a crisp, cold glass of white wine or enjoying the adventure of tasting something for the first time. We know you want to get to know the local area you are travelling in, and one of the best ways to do this is by tasting the local produce.

WineNew Zealand’s unique soil, climate and crystal clear water provide it with a surprisingly varied wine growing environment for such a small country. Whether you are a true wine aficionado or just enjoy the odd glass of wine with friends, the variety of vineyard experiences on offer in New Zealand will delight. With wines first introduced in the early 1800’s, the ten major wine producing areas in New Zealand are well established and we offer holidays that include a number of the key wine producing regions. With stunning rural vistas and relaxed surroundings, you will enjoy every fresh sip you take!

Produce Calling all discerning foodies! New Zealand is blessed to enjoy a bounty of fresh produce from both land and sea. Strong seasonal variations of fresh local and regional food means tasting fresh stone fruit in Cromwell or indulging in some local cheeses (paired with great wine of course!) in the Gibbston Valley. You’ll even be able to experience true Maori culture with a traditional Maori hangi dinner, a meal cooked in the ground using geothermal steam. Foodie or not, you will enjoy the new experiences and unique flavours that come with a visit to fabulous New Zealand.

Let our family guide you again

Sustaining the destinations we visit is of great importance to us at AAT Kings. We are part of a joint initiative by The Travel Corporation family of brands called TreadRight; a not-for-profit organisation working to ensure the environment and communities we explore remain vibrant for future generations.

TreadRight is The Travel Corporation’s hub for all corporate social responsibility efforts and manages a long-standing grants program that benefits sustainable tourism projects. To date TreadRight has donated more the USD$2 million to projects worldwide and encourages industry best practice through our support for the World Travel & Tourism Council’s Tourism for Tomorrow Awards.

In Australia, AAT Kings is contributing to the world’s leading research facility for Little Penguins which is located on Phillip Island in Victoria. With a grant of $95,000 via the TreadRight Foundation, a new penguin weighbridge will monitor the health of the penguins and interpretive signs will be erected to help educate visitors about the local environment and this important penguin colony.

AAT Kings is also a proud sponsor of the Tasmanian Devil conservation breeding program at Tasmania Zoo in Launceston.

The program aims to preserve this endangered species for future generations. With AAT Kings’ support, Tasmania Zoo is conducting research into the Devil Facial Tumour Disease which has severely depleted Tasmanian Devil numbers in recent years.

One project we’re particularly proud of in Australia is the Kimberley Sustainable Tourism Initiative. TreadRight partnered with WWF (World Wildlife Fund) and the Kimberley Land Council to help protect local communities in the Kimberley, develop indigenous sustainable tourism – protecting the natural and cultural environment and supporting local indigenous communities.

AAT Kings, as part of The Travel Corporation, is proud to be using 100% recycled paper for the body of our brochures. Some of the positive impacts of this include saving more than 54,000* trees per year and reducing landfill waste that produces harmful greenhouse gases. In addition, the paper used is rated ‘Excellent’ by the World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) environmental benchmarking tool. We’re proud to commit to using one of the most environmentally friendly coated recycled papers on Planet Earth.
