today, we transfer by air from queenstown on the south island to napier on the north island. on arrival, there is time to explore napier and its famed art deco architecture. later, we check-in to our fi ve-star home for the next three evenings in Hawke’s Bay—the farm at cape kidnappers, where the service, atmosphere and scenery are incomparable.

TOUR: GANNET COLONY & KIWI TOUR our morning begins with a trip to the splendid cape kidnappers gannet colony—the only place in the world to see the nesting place of over 20,000 gannets up close. as we watch these birds fl y off the cliffs to dive deep for fi sh, our local guides explain the preening, dance performances and behaviors we witness. in the afternoon, we explore the area around cape kidnappers to fi nd new Zealand’s national bird, the kiwi. semi-secretive and nocturnal, few new Zealanders have seen a kiwi in the wild. our guides lead us to a kiwi habitat, where we will be able view and hold these unique, fl ightless birds.

golfers will relish a second round at cape kidnappers. no excuses about the prevailing winds today on the par three 6th, a cliff-to-cliff shot, or on the par fi ve 15th hole, otherwise known as “pirates plank,” which edges out to a green that hangs 450 feet above the pacifi c.

TOUR: THE WINES OF HAWKE’S BAY Hawke’s Bay, the oldest established wine growing region in new Zealand, is home to many of the country’s most famous vineyards. today, we explore the region’s fi ne wines with tastings led by award-winning vintners. our enjoyable fi nal tasting is paired with local specialties for lunch.

touring guests enjoy a visit to a local, working sheep farm in the morning. we tour the rustic farmhouse, watch sheep shearing and observe their skilled sheep dogs in action. this afternoon, we learn the secrets of new Zealand cuisine in a kiwi cooking class, enjoying the fruits of our labor paired with fi ne new Zealand wine.

Play both the tom doak designed Links course, as well as the Coore & Crenshaw Lost Farm; both courses are ranked in the top 50 in the world. tasmania’s tranquil setting provides the perfect backdrop for golf. the tasmania extension can be enjoyed directly after the main tour or after the melbourne extension.

The Tasmania tour price is $1,965 per person, double occupancy, and includes: three nights accommodations, three breakfasts, three lunches, three dinners, two rounds of golf and airport transfers. Airfare from Melbourne to Tasmania is not included, but will be arranged by Kalos Golf.
