Issue 43

Greetings All, Only a small issue this month as the contributions seem to have dried up. Spring is here so hopefully we will see more motorcycles on the roads. Our President is back from touring around Europe, look forward to reading about his trip in an upcoming newsletter. Looks like we need a new President, see John’s Presidents Prattle! What about the rest of the Branch members what have you been doing? This is your newsletter so send me a story or some photos of your rides and adventures.

Thought for the month:

If we were all forced to

wear a warning label,

what would yours say?

Ride Coordinators Rumblings G'day All.

Spring is upon us! Really looking forward to the prospect of warmer weather, longer days and more riding! A few changes to talk about this time, so please take note!!!

Don't forget to book your accommodation for Bundanoon (see the flyer elsewhere in this issue).

Wednesday Rides

Well… Starting the rides from McDonalds has been YAFE(i). The only people turning up at Maccas and putting up with inferior (and dearer) coffee were those that would have ridden from Tathra anyway. I give up. This short flirtation with apartheid will end. Furthermore, I will not be planning any fortnightly midweek rides weeks/months in advance. From now on every Wednesday will be a “decide and ride” from Howeroll Tathra. So whether or not a ride takes place and the destination will be entirely up to those who wish to take part. Hopefully this will make mid week rides more accessible to members, and it will certainly make my job a lot easier LOL. I will still put up one Saturday and/or Sunday ride per month.

And while we are talking about Wednesdays, every now and again HWR can be closed for whatever reason. On these occasions the back-up plan is the cafe at the Countryside Caravan Park, Old Wallagoot Rd Kalaru.

Sunday Coffee.

Cafe Evolve hasn't got enough seating for us all unfortunately. So the 4th Sunday will move to the Oaklands Cafe on the highway just south of Pambula.

Cheers Peter

(I) Yet Another Failed Experiment

The Presidents Prattle Hi there fellow Sapphire Coast Ulysseans. I'm briefly back in Australia before disappearing again in a few days - just enough time to mow the grass and wash some clothes before I head for New Zealand for three weeks. My life will be heading on a different trajectory in forthcoming months, so regretfully I have decided to step down from the Presidency of the Sapphire Coast Branch.

Of course I'll be maintaining my interest in motorcycling and my participation in the Ulysses Club, but I intend to renew my old interests in kayaking and bicycling and its is likely that I'll be increasingly in-volved with two other Ulysses branches in addition to our own. Added to my twice yearly overseas mis-adventures It means I won't have the necessary time to attend properly to the duties of Branch Presi-dent, so it's appropriate that I hand over to someone else. As we are a Branch that has an informally appointed committee, this time is as good as any, as mem-bers can appoint a replacement promptly without the need for formal nominations or a formal election. It's been great fun holding the reins again and I hope my replacement, whoever that may be, will have your full support. Our monthly dinner on Tuesday 11th October at Club Bega. John Dean

World Traveller, Retired gentleman, trainee layabout and now Ex- Branch President.
