Through November 14Richard Hinton-Beauty Amongst Chaos Jansma Gallery at NCCA-Artsplace, 13 E. Main St., Fremont. Richard Hinton is a photographer from Fremont. His active involvement in area photo clubs, efforts in organizing photographic adventures among peers, participation in various photography competitions and volunteer time with NCCA-Artsplace show how important the arts, specifically photography are to him. His passion for his art form comes through in his images that are both powerful and beautiful.
Regarding his exhibit, Hinton stated, “We live in two worlds…our everyday world where we mow our grass, tend to our cars and go to work. The other world is the world of things we leave behind. Cars and trucks in the field. A barn silo or an old farm house. Signs for businesses that don’t exist anymore. In extreme cases like Detroit, whole buildings are left to be ravaged by time, nature and man. Once houses, schools, churches and factories that were a mainstay of the American economy and symbols of our culture, they now sit empty. Their roofs sag, their floors are upheaved, and their walls have been covered in graffiti. Yet as those once proud monuments sit waiting for demolition, or rebirth, one can find beauty amongst the chaos.”
Stop by and enjoy his work on display through November 14!

DOGWOOD EVENTS NOVEMbER/DECEMbER 2015
December 10 - Hilary KoleCome join us and celebrate the season with Hilary Kole! Her holiday jazz program will consist of classic holiday favorites such as Silver Bells, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Walking in a Winter Wonderland. It’s sure to be a wonderful evening! Hailed by critics as a “musical marvel”, Hilary Kole continues to engage audiences throughout the world since beginning her professional career at the legendary Rainbow Room as the youngest singer ever to grace that stage. She has appeared to sold-out audiences at the famed
Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, at Lincoln Center as part of the “American Songbook Series”, and at Carnegie Hall. The presenting sponsors of “Hilary Kole” at the Dogwood Center is HS&C Wealth Management - a
financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. and H&S Companies. Tickets $25 for adults, $15 for kids 18 and under. Main Stage, 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating.
December 18 - Joshua DavisMichigan’s own Joshua Davis returns to the Dogwood Center on December 18 at 7:30 p.m. on the main stage! Millions of viewers watched Davis sing his heart out on the “The Voice” last spring, and enough were charmed by his voice and folk ballads to vote him into the final four contestants for the highly rated NBC music competition series. He ultimately finished third when the eighth season wrapped in May. Joshua Davis was raised in the folk tradition: the music, the social movements, the land. He writes songs that blend the roots of American music with gritty rock n’ roll and vintage soul. His music is steeped in ragtime blues, sweet jazz and real country but Davis’s broad schooling in the cultural, political and musical roots of American tradition has resulted in more than a simple retelling of universal themes. Davis has performed live on the internationally syndicated programs Mountain Stage, Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour and Backstage Pass. His songs have been featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, Folk Alley and The Mix and he has played scores of prestigious festivals and venues not to mention almost every festival Michigan has to offer. Tickets are $22.50 with reserved seating for this main stage performance.
November 20 - “Sweet Dreams” Mandy Barnett Sings Patsy ClineAcclaimed recording artist and performer Mandy Barnett takes you on a sparkling musical journey performing an evening of Patsy Cline’s hits including “Sweet Dreams,” “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walking After Midnight,” “Faded Love,” and more, along with other classic country and pop standards, and selections from her own albums. Mandy originated the role of Patsy Cline, in the theatrical production “Always…Patsy Cline” at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium, where the per-formances sold out nightly, and she has wowed critics and audiences ever since. Mandy is a frequent guest on the Grand Ole Opry, and is equally as comfortable onstage with symphony orchestras. Her robust delivery on her contemporary yet retro-sounding country and pop-tinged material harkens back to the likes of all-time great female singers and timeless sounds. Tickets $20. Main Stage. Reserved seating. 7:30 p.m.
November 28 - Braunschweiger Blues BandThe Braunschweiger Blues Band will be back in the Black Box on November 28!
