•Last year we organised an internal indoor camogie league in our school.

•The aim was to promote camogie within the school.

•We ran two separate leagues:

The Leinster League for 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes The Munster League for 5th and 6th classes

•Each girl was placed on a team – 46 girls participated in these leagues

•These leagues were run at lunch time in the School Hall with each days’ fixtures being posted on our School Sports Notice Board

• In Scoil na Maighdine Mhuire, we have set aside a space specifically for our school sports.

• On to this goes any upcoming fixtures, training schedules, any posters from e.g. Cumann Camogaiochta na nGael, Ladies Gaelic Football and the GAA.

• We also put photos from our sporting endeavours on to our notice board.

• The players check this board regularly for updates.

• In September 2008, the Ladies Gaelic Football Association ran a poster competition in each county that was participating in the All Ireland finals on final day on Sept 28.

• The task was to design a poster in support of your county. (Clare played in the Intermediate final)

• Lucy Cotgreave (5th class) won first prize in the competition and as a result, received 20 tickets for the final and 5 footballs for our school!!!

• Well done Lucy and you can see her winning poster on the next slide....

• And so on Sunday the 28th of September, we headed to Dublin and had a fantastic day.... (but Clare didn’t win)

• In the next two weeks, both the Senior Camogie team and the Senior Hurling team of our GAA club (Cora Chaitlín) are competing in their respective county finals. Scoil na Maighdine Mhuire has nurtured the talents of many of those players competing.

• We wish them all the best of luck in their quest for glory!!! UP THE BLUES!!!!!!!
