Dialoguewith CEO
I would like to congratulate the winners of CEO HSE Award who represented oil companies, governmental authorities other institutions of the civil society in the contest. I would like further to hail the efforts which local oil companies have put forth to submit effective programs and projects aimed to underpin the country’s status in HSE field particularly after the success fulfilled in several vital projects on top of which the project of trimming down gas emissions to appreciable rates, getting international certificates of quality and performance such as ISO, Green Award and ROSPA.Although we are delight over the success we have fulfilled in HSE field, we are looking forward to achieving infinite progress to occupy an international status among the huge companies particularly in HSE field. Consequently, we are keen on achieving “zero” emissions to get a clean and healthful environment with the help of distinguished programs and our devoted efforts to control casualties and emergencies particularly oil spills; therefore, we have planned to establish specialized centers to manage crises and catastrophes.Driving to zero in gas emissions is not easy; therefore, we should intensify effort and unite our goals to achieve the concept of the teamwork under one comprehensive vision and excellent programs.

As per its diligent efforts exerted to
underpin the concepts of social re-
sponsibilities, the Kuwaiti oil sector
represented by Kuwait Petroleum
Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiar-
ies seeks to launch an cultural project
that is considered the first of its kind
in the international oil industry as is
aimed to fulfill the concepts of sus-
tainable development in all fields.
The successive initiatives which the
oil sector launches are stemmed out
from its realization to the responsi-
bility it shoulders towards the so-
ciety. This responsibility is always
under progress and development to
meet the needs of the society.
In fact, the Kuwaiti oil sector is keen
on developing the abilities and skills
of personnel as per a studied ideol-
ogy includes the various age groups
of the society starting from children,
new recruits and even senior officials
through holding training courses for
them to develop their skills and tal-
ents.
The oil sector seeks to spread the pe-
troleum culture and highlight the im-
portance of oil as a key resource for
energy. Accordingly, it has sought
diligently to publish a series of edu-
cational stories for the junior, in col-
laboration with specialists such as Dr.
Zahra Ahmad Ali who is specialized
in Children Literature; among these
stories is “Hekayet Naftan” or “Naf-
tan Tal” which narrates the story of
exploring oil. Add to this is the story
of “Yakhadur and Environment”
which poses the case of preserving
the Kuwaiti environment. Moreover,
the sector is preparing to issue a sto-
ry for children between 9-13 years
entitled “Story of Oil from Burgan
Oilfield to Japan’s Ports” in collabo-
ration with Kuwait Oil Company to
shed light on the operations of ex-
ploration, drilling and production.
The cultural project which the sec-
tor is preparing to launch is based on
inclusive studies conducted inces-
santly to identify the crucial needs
of the society particularly after no-
ticing that the curricula of the pri-
mary stage starting the fourth grade
include oil information which needs
to be updated to cope with the osten-
sible development in the oil industry.
In addition, the first three grades of
the same stage do not study any oil
information.
It is mentioned that this initiative
which the oil sector tends to launch
is based on the following pivots:
- To establish the first electronic
website on oil culture for children to
6 oil stories issued for children
