Another fabulous day for the last run at Taueru. Chris & Malcolm set a challenging course with overnight rain making things rather slippery. Apparently it was a little tough coming up that hill from the gully! The midgets enjoyed their course - the toughest for them so far this season. .

Cross Country 19th June 2016

Twenty competitors raised almost $100 for the historic Rangitumau Church fund on Queen’s Birthday Sunday. They were rewarded for their efforts with stunning views at the top & cake at the bottom. Michael Macklin was first to the Trig with Malcolm & Dom hot on his heels.

Thanks to Gary, our “sheperd” & gate keeper

Dorne Cup A fantastic effort from our 16-strong team who travelled over to Trentham for the 90th Dorne cup last Saturday (11th June). Fine conditions and not too muddy under foot but plenty of depth to the stream to ensure runners got well and truly wet. Competing for the first time in the 60+ Mens race, Tony Price finished an impressive 2nd leading the Mens 60+ team to a 3rd placing overall. Not to be out done, the Mens 50+ also finished 3rd, just 3 points ahead of Hutt Valley Harriers. Well done everyone, another great day out. Full results on website.

Sanders Gough,Burns & Robbie Cups

25th June Sladden Park, Upper Hutt

Interclub is not just for “A graders” we want everyone. Planning to do an interclub?

Please let Dom or Ray know in advance - registration takes time.

Claudia managed to fit in a 10km run on her recent trip to Germany. She ran with her friend Konnie who was competing in her first race. So it was a leisurely pace but lots of fun.

Another great photo of Annie & Graeme after the Manawatu Striders Marathon on 29th May. Competing in the half marathon were Dom Green (5th), James Inwood, Gavin Champion & Norm Chu. Geoff Bendall & Robyn Green completed the 10km while the Green sisters, Claudia & Bianca settled for the 5km. Tori Bendall ran well, finishing 3rd female in the 5km.

On Sunday 5th June, Ray Haste & Greg Baillie completed the Aurora Harriers Marathon as a team. Sounds like a great course & event. Diary it for next year.

Last Sunday Roger Jones finished an impressive 11th out of 112 in the 11km Mt Vernon Grand Traverse, Blenheim. A tough climb!

New Zealand Transport Agency Cycling study NZTA is looking at how motorists & cyclists interact on the road & what impact this has on cyclist safety & comfort. They are looking for people living either in Greater Wellington or the Wairarapa who are willing & interested in riding an Instrumented Bicycle (photo) during June / July.

Interclub Bush Harriers Relay

Sunday 10th July This is a great event with mixed teams of at least four. Each team must include walkers. Teams are allocated on the day. There are no fixed laps so teams have to work out their own strategy for completing the course.

It’s a busy weekend with events, but lets try for a team.
