Kiwanians braved the cold to greet

shoppers at Krogers and to ring the bell for

2015 November 11

Kiwanians dedicate cards that are sent

to families with young children who are in

care at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

It is part of the club's commitment to make

Young Children - Priority One.

2015 November 6

Certificates were handed out to elementary

school students at Cane Creek and Jere

Whitson Elementary Schools for bringing up

their grades. Kiwanis treated them to some

pizza and drinks for doing so.

2015 October 16

One of the first bricks at a planned new building for the Putnam County Archives and

Veterans Hall was donated by Kiwanis members' Happy Dollars. An article with a photo

and related story was featured on the front page of the October 16, 2015 issue of the

Tays Auctions owner Sam Tays presented

Auctions have been helping Kiwanis with

the auction for several years when it was

still conducted live. Kiwanis and Tays

Auctions worked to transition the event into

a fully online format this year.

The 46th Annual Putnam Kiwanis Auction

(and the first online-only version) ended

last night. Thanks to all who participated in

it by donating items, bidding on them, and

passing the message along to others.

Putnam Kiwanians contributed $63 from their own pockets this month to the Eliminate

Project that aims to eradicate maternal neo-natal tetanus worldwide. Kiwanis has raised

more than $100 million worldwide - every dollar counts.

Cookeville Soap Box Derby. Wind gusts and

a bit of rain did not dampen the spirits of

racers and spectators alike.

The keys to this house in Monterey,

Tennessee were recently handed to its new

owners by the volunteers and sponsors of

Putnam County Habitat for

Humanity. Kiwanis provides a flag to

homeowners to display their pride in their

new homes.

Bowling Tournament Fund-Raiser at

Bowling World to help raise funds for the

Kiwanis Club of Cookeville Foundation.

Cottonelle (Tony Beason, Dwayne Cuzzart,

Kevin Garrett and Dennis Hargis) placed

first, while Youth All-Stars (McKenzie

Bowman, Haley Crabtree, Gabe Reynolds

and Sarah Wick) and Jo's Pro's (Beverly

Mitchell, Ted Mitchell, Tom Montgomery and

Donna Thomsen) finished second and third,

respectively.

Associate Pastor Darrin Crockett of Vine

Branch Community Church visited with

Kiwanian Steve Chatman and other

members of the Kiwanis Club during the

club's annual Ministers Appreciation Day.

2015 April 28

Kiwanis recently donated funds to the backpack program of the Putnam Education

Partnership Foundation. The donation will go to students at Parkview and Prescott South

Elementary Schools in Cookeville. The backpack program feeds over 900 students in the

Putnam County School System. This includes students from each elementary, middle, and

high school in our school system. Students are discretely given small take-home foods

that are child-friendly and require no heating or cooling appliances.

2015 April 16

Kiwanians served pizza to reward these K-

4th graders for shooting past their grade

levels in Reading and Math at Cane Creek

Elementary School.

2015 April 14

Kiwanis and its Young Children: Priority

One Program (YCPO) is assisting the

Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation

in its project to create The Angel Garden.

Children interred at the Angel Garden will

include those who do not come to full-term

and pass away at the hospital. These

children, though short-lived, deserve to be

treated with dignity and respect.

raiser of the Kiwanis Cookeville Children's

Museum.

2015 March 25

Kiwanians send out get well cards on a

regular basis to the families of children

who are recovering from medical

procedures at Cookeville Regional Medical

Center. This is one way Kiwanis shows that

Young Children are "Priority One.”

2015 March 12

Kiwanians threw a party for third-graders at

Jere Whitson Elementary School who raised

their grades during the current term as part

of the Kiwanis Bring Up Grades program.

Charlie Macke, Bob Palmer, Dustin Buck

and Rod Pineda joined teachers who served

pizza and soft drinks to the students.

2015 March 10

Kiwanis is sponsoring one local area youth to attend this year's Boys State at Tennnessee

Technological University from May 24-30. American Legion Boys State is among the most

respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school

students. It is a participatory program where each participant becomes a part of the

operation of his local, county and state government.

Mr. Dustin Buck of Cumberland Insurance

Agency has been inducted into the Kiwanis

Club of Putnam County. His membership

was sponsored by Larry Vickers.

13 January 2015

The Kiwanis Club hosted a pizza party for

students who raised their grades from one

grading period to the next as part of

the B.U.G. (Bring Up Grades) Program at

Cane Creek Elementary School in

Cookeville. Each B.U.G. student also

received a certificate recognizing his or her

achievement.
