Homecoming Sarah spent this past weekend at Abilene Christian University’s homecoming with several friends whom she met at school and some who are still there finishing their degrees. It’s a pretty common thing, homecoming. We have it for high schools and colleges alike. We have reunions with former classmates. I have been out of high school for just
over 5 years now (shocked?) and it is amazing to me how much change has taken place in myself, my fami-ly, my peers. I love looking back, just for a time, to see the way that God has worked, to see growth and to see the way my path through life has been forged. I also love looking forward. When I started at Frisco Liberty in 2006, we had no one to come home because we opened the high school. Our first big fall event, dance, and football game, was called forthcoming. We got to set the traditions. In many ways this
was and is as much fun as coming home. Here’s to charting new courses together!
Fall Retreat Sign ups are now available for our annual Fall Retreat. I am asking for $50 from students who want to attend. Reminder that we are retreating from December 4th to December 6th. This should avoid conflicts with holidays, athletic schedules, and the like. If you are interested in sending your student with us or volunteering to chaperone and assist, let me know!

What a treat to have Dovene and Sarah
Afakule and their two children with us this morning.
Dovene and Sarah work as full-time missionaries in
Vogan, Togo, West Africa alongside of Hammer
and Dela Afakule, Dovene’s parents. The
Afakule’s help with the Togo Christian School
which is on adjacent property to the church. I was
blessed to be present when they had the ground
breaking for the school. Dovene will share with us
this morning how God is moving in the country of
Togo and how they are planting churches in areas
where Satan worship and voodoo are common
practice.
Thank you for your prayers and support for
my mission trip to Atibaia, Brazil. I wish I could
bottle up the joyful experience that I had with the 54
missionaries and the 14 team members who went
to minister. It was a life-changing experience for
many and I believe renewed these missionaries in a
most vital way and breathed new life into them
personally. Marriages have been fortified and
workers given new tools and new friendships and
connections that let them know they are not alone
in the Kingdom work in South America.

Good morning and wel-come to our services. Glad you are here to hear the word and to
be strengthened by our common faith. I ask for all of your prayers as the elders and ministers take our annual retreat this week. It's always a great time of reflecting on what God has done this past year and a time of seeking His vision for the future of the body of believers that call Park Avenue home. As we have done in the past we will report to you what comes out of this time together, but in the meantime we covet your prayers for wisdom, guidance, and vision. Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision, the people per-ish." (KJV) We've been blessed the last few weeks to have a few families place their membership here at Park Ave-nue. Make sure you welcome these people to our church family. It's great to see the church growing. There are lots of opportunities to put your faith into action. Look through the Messenger and take action as we serve our church and our community all in the name of our Lord Jesus. Thanks to all of you for your service and hard work.
Todd’s Take
We are honored to have you with us this morning. A warm welcome to all our members — how good and pleasant it is for us to worship together! And a special welcome to our guests! Please take a few

Sermon Notes
Micah Micah 6:8
And what does the Lord require of you?
To _________ justly
and to _________ mercy
and to _________ humbly with your God.
Did you know this was in Micah? “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.” (Micah 5:2)
Over 700 years later Matthew would quote this verse in fulfillment of the birthplace of Jesus. John would also allude to this verse in John 7:42
Did you know Bethlehem means “house of bread” in Hebrew?
Did you know Micah means “who is like Yahweh” in Hebrew.
Did you know Micah was a contempo-rary of the great prophet Isaiah?
Upcoming Messages
Today Todd leads us in a lesson from Micah.
Next week, October 25, Wes will be preaching from Nahum.
