Friday March 18th through Sunday March 20th, twenty couples from Park Avenue will head to the Hilton Bella Harbor in Rock- wall, Texas for a Marriage Retreat. We will be joined by our presenter, Dr. Corey Allan of simplemarriage.net. Corey will challenge us and reframe the ideas we’ve had about what God intended marriage to be for His peo- ple. The cost for the weekend is $250. That covers two nights, the meeting room, two breakfasts at the hotel, the cost of the speaker, and supplies. The only other cost will be your date night with your spouse on Saturday night. The deadline is today, March 6. Contact Basil to sign up. Dr. Corey Allan “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness. Again I will build you and you will be rebuilt.” Jeremiah 31:3-4 These are God’s powerful words to His people Israel through the prophet Jeremiah. God wants His people back! He wants His people restored. He will go to great lengths to show His everlasting love. Was Israel willing to work with Him? Are WE willing to work with Him in rebuilding our lives or our marriages? As we approach the Marriage Retreat at the Hilton in Rockwall on March 18-20, I am praying for each of the couples committed to going on this retreat. As God speaks through Jeremiah, He is able to rebuild anything. God can rebuild a nation. He can rebuild a marriage. He can rebuild a family. But we’ve got to join Him, work with Him in the rebuilding. TOGO MISSION TRIP—JUNE 2-16 We are taking a mission trip to Togo, West Africa in June to work with Hammer and Dela Afakule and Dovene and Sarah Afakule in the city of Vogan. Currently we are finalizing the list of those who have expressed an interest and have 13 men and women. The group will meet next Sunday, March 13 immediately after worship to talk more details and set up future meeting and planning sessions. Many came to Christ as the result of our last trip as we did dental clinics in the villages and worked with the orphanages. Many seeds have been planted. What a blessing to be part of this work for the kingdom.

Sermon Notes

We are honored to have you with us this morning. A warm welcome to all our members — how good and pleasant it is for us to worship together! And a special welcome to our guests! Please take a few

minutes to visit with us after services. Stop by the welcome centers in the main hallways for more information and a free gift from us. Let us know how we can serve you.

A reminder of our two weeks of prayer and fasting that will begin Monday, March 14. You will receive a letter with more details about this and some fasting suggestions. We will also provide a study guide for that two week period focusing on Matthew 21-28. We’ve had several PA members come forward to contribute to this guide and I know it will be a blessing to you to read their thoughts. Hard copies will be availa-ble next Sunday and an online version will be available as well. Our spring issue of Park Avenue In Action is available today. This issue focuses on outreach and facilities. Thanks so much to all our deacons and ministry leaders who work so hard in maximizing the impact of our facilities, and thanks to those who play such an important role in reaching out to our church family, our community, and to our world. Through your service God is doing great things. Let’s worship together.

Good morning and wel-come to our worship service this morning. We are glad you are

here as we all look to our God as creator, redeemer, and friend. Today I will continue our Face of Grace sermon series by looking at the first of four events during the last week before the crucifixion—Jesus washes the disciples’ feet. I can’t imagine how much this must have taken the disciples by surprise as their master went around the room washing their dirty feet. This seem so illogical, but once again, Jesus impresses upon them and us how kingdom wisdom is so counter to worldly wisdom. One of our con-stant challenges of living in a fallen world is to understand that differ-ence. Paul put it well when he writes to the Christians in Corinth, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom.” (1 Corinthians 1:25)

The Face of Grace Four events from the one week that changed the world

John 13:1-17, Jesus Washes the disciples’ feet

Key Concepts Jesus embodied his teaching on humility by wash-

ing the apostles’ feet. Jesus’ example is to be followed by all believers. Humble service is the pathway to the blessed life.
