Soch, an initiative which aims at beautifying so-ciety holistically, organised its first mega event ‘cleanliness drive’ which was held on March 16,2015. Cleanliness drive inspired by the ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’, launched by our re-spected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, was a winsome success where students from first year, second year and third year participated in the cleaning campaign and enjoyed it endear-ingly. Chief guest of the event, DIG of Jaipur police, Dr. Karnal Bahadur Singh Kapoor him-self participated in the campaign enthusiastical-ly, encouraged the students and also appreciat-ed their efforts. The event started at 10 am with the arrival of Dr. Karnal Kapoor. Along with the students, the teachers of JECRC also joined the cleanliness drive with excitement. Students cleaned different areas of the college campus. The event concluded at 12:30 PM on a successful note.

Athlon 2015

Sports teach us team spirit, leadership, hard work and accepting failure. Athlon, the inter college girls sports meet was held on March 16,2015 with the motive of showcasing the true spirit of sports.Chief guests of the sports meet were Mr. M.L. Sharma, Vice Chairman, JECRC and Mr. K.P. Pareek, Chief Warden, JECRC. The event started at 10 AM. Girls from JECRC UDML and JECRC participated in various sports including outdoor games like cricket, badminton, tug of war, bas-ketball and indoor games like carom, chess etc. The new addition in the sports meet, ‘The Fun Games’, was included for increasing interaction between players, which received an overwhelming response. Students from JECRC UDML appreciated the hospitality given to them and the arrangements made. Teacher coordina-tors were also satisfied with the efforts of the stu-dent volunteers and the way they handled the

management of the event. Participants found the whole event very exciting and played very competitively against each other while maintain-ing the sportsman’s spirit.

The best motivation always comes from within and is encouraged by sports.

Zarurat Strikes the Cord Again!

17th March, 2015 witnessed the celebration of innocence of childhood by the JECRC family. Team Zarurat organised a plethora of activities for underprivileged children of different NGOs. The event took off at 10 AM with the first event ‘Prastuti’. The chief guests were Mr. O.P. Jain, Director Social Initiative, JECRC and Mr. M.L. Sharma, Vice-Chairman, JECRC along with oth-er dignitaries, started off the event by lamp light-ing ceremony followed by a welcome speech by Mr. O.P. Jain. There were various performances by the children of the NGOs like Sakhi Baal Niketan, Amar Seva Samiti, Himana, Vihaan and Disha, which is an NGO for the handicapped children. There were dance performances by Sachin Tai-lor and an alumni Mayank Dassani followed by a guitar performance. After Prastuti, the next event was Kathashala organised by Tale weav-ers who enacted one of the stories of Akbar &

Birbal after which the children decorated small boxes and were given some goodies. There was a Hand Wash Campaign Organised for them fol-lowed by lunch and Eye Check Up Camp.The last event of the day was the Baal Mahotsav, a small carnival for them to dance, play and have fun. Each child was given some gifts sponsored by Team Zarurat. The day ended with a smile on everyone’s face.

Renaissance 2015, going viral on social networks with the hashtag #ren15, started on the morning of 18th March with an inaugural function in the college auditorium. Prof. Victor Gambhir, President, JECRC Universi-ty was present as the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony. As the day passed, we saw prolific display of handwork in Dexterity that truly mesmerized everyone at 11:30 AM at the lawns of C-Block. It saw creation

of some great and thoughtful ideas in the form of small bridge models. At the same time, Gully Cricket wit-nessed many cricket fans in GH and BH-2 lawns. Chef’s Corner provided a platform to all the foodies to show their talent by cooking a dish of their wish in A-Block. Love for games was tested in LAN Gaming in CP-8,9 labs. An algorithm based online competitive programming event, Al-goholic was conducted at 11:30 PM

in the IBM lab. In the third edition of RapZap, the participants wooed the audience by their mesmerizing rap-ping skills at noon in the auditorium. DJ Vaibhav and DJ Viva judged the show. Step-To-Stock provided ex-posure to the world of stock trading giving a chance to work in real market scenarios in form of virtual money at 12:00 PM in the reference library.The ultimate knowledge of the electronics and innovation skills of circuit design-

ing was checked in the Combat-ant at 12:30 PM in the reference library, B-Block. The event offered the participants, the oppotunity to think and enhance their abilities. Cadd Mania tested the dexterity of the participants in Au-toCAD AT 2:00 PM in cadd lab. The creative event Made-It-Myself checked the Rangoli making and face-painting skills of the students at 2:30 PM in A-Block. Spell-Bee was on the hunt for the best speller at 2:30 PM in auditorium. Raga Night, one of the highlights of the day witnessed some outstanding performance by budding singers of JECRC and

other colleges across the coun-try at 4:30 PM in Central Lawns. At 6:45 PM, in the central lawn, the ramp was all set for Adaa, the fashion-show. Loud cheers busted in as the teams started showing their adaa with different concepts but with the same zeal.

We interviewed the Chief Guest of Renaissance inaugural ceremony, Prof. Victor Gambhir. Pro-fessor Gambhir is the President of JECRC Uni-versity.

Your comments about JECRC Renaissance’15?A. I appreciate the hard work done by Renais-sance Core team and all the efforts put by them. The essence of Renaissance is enthusiasm, music and dance. Renaissance is the largest techno- cultural fest across Rajasthan and a whooping number of 1000 students participat-ing nation wide is commendable.

Is this your first association with Renaissance?A. I have been associated with JECRC Founda-tion since 2005 but this is my first time.I am priv-ileged to attend the fest and that too as a chief guest, indeed a great honor for me.

Where do you see JECRCians in today’s dy-namic world?A. JECRCians enjoy high reputation in India as well as abroad. JECRC is one of the most pre-ferred destinations to pursue higher studies and JECRCians shine like bright stars wherever they go, be it any part of the world. We get the best students at the time of counselling and thus all

MNCs look forward to hire our graduates and this is a big achievement according to me.

What message would you like to give to JECRCians so as to excel in their respective fields? A. All I would like to say is “Work hard and give your 100% in even the smallest acts you do, that’s the secret to success. Do your best and leave the rest”

. What message would you like to give to JMAG team members?A. You guys are doing a wonderful job and since today’s world is all about Information, it adds to the importance. Day 2 began with Embryo where the partici-pants presented their in-depth research on sci-entific achievments & discoveries, in the form of presentations. Junkyard wars was conducted where participants were challenged to create engi-neering marvels be it a hovercraft, cross bows, remote controlled cars, et al. out of just junk. In the event Aero, participants were asked to make paper planes that were judged on the basis of their range and time duration of flying. Partici-

pants were also asked to make parachute that were used to bring down the object given and was judged on the basis of measure of time of fall. For the first time street football was intro-duced where teams of 6 members each com-peted against each other. On the same time at a different location on the campus, Just C, an event based on C programming language was conducted in which participants faced tricky programming problems and wrote C-Code to

solve them. They were judged over the number of problems solved and the correctness of their solutions. In Beat-The-Beats, participants had to play their own composition or a cover on their instrument and then had to play a backing track. Lan gaming is an event for all the game lovers. the participants competed against each other in various computer games. RoboWar is a com-bat robotics championship. In this event there were two custom-build machines that used varied methods of destroying or immobilizing the other. It was a war where the bots fought against each other for their survival. Java-Lets was another programming contest which caught the eyes of all the Java lovers on campus. The programmers were first asked various MCQs and then they had to code which was a test of programming. In the event Fork Lifter, participants made cranes that

worked on the principles of hydraulics. Each crane was judged on the basis of weight it can lift for 5 secs and complete different set of me-chanical tasks to make a building with blocks. Sand-It was an event to celebrate beaches and the love for sand castles. In this the participants had to design any shape and were judged on the basis of the height of the shape. For the next round the participants were given props and shapes to design their creativ-ity with sand. A session was held with an Alum-ni entrepreneur who shared his experience and guidance regarding entrepreneurship. Various fun activities were conducted in the Mad House event. Rockathon, a battle of bands was or-ganised where various bands showcased their talent. The day was concluded with the event Bootstrapping, different dancing teams partici-pated and thrilled the audience with their mes-merizing dance performances.

The third day of Renaissance started off with a greater zeal. The day began with the event of Reverse Engineering, in which the partici-pating teams were tested on their calibre of disassembling and assem-bling electronic devices and Zenith, in which the teams were tested on their creativity and understanding of structures. They had to construct struc-tures with roofs and floors with the materials provided. Simultaneously, Street Football was taking place which is almost same as football but a bit informal and has a slight varia-tion in rules. Following these events, there was Trashion- a fashion de-

signing competition where designing was to be done from trash, Campus Roadies - a competition where teams have to compete against each other by performing some physical tasks and Formula Zero - where the teams had to build a manually controlled machine and make it run on a track and were tested on the basis of the speed and control on the machine. For the gaming lovers, there was LAN Gaming which had the option of competing in games like Counter Strike 1,6, Need for Speed (Most Wanted), Fifa-14 and Dota 2. A quiz competition, Brainwiz was held to test the IQ of students and there was Techno Crosswinds, a technical crossword puzzle solving competition about engineering and

science. The Uncensored Talk was an uncensored discussion organized by Kalaage, an online magazine on three very interesting topics related to the AIB videos on free speech, India being the rape capital of the world and the engineering theorem. The regional auditions for The Indian Hip Hop Dance Championship, the National Qualifiers for the World Hip Hop dance Championship which started off in 2012 was held in our college and our college dance team, Enigma, got selected for the national auditions. The final event of the day was Vinyl War i.e. the DJ-ing compe-tition which witnessed a large crowd dancing away to the beats of the DJ.

Last and surely not the least, Day 4 took off and left a huge impact on the audience. The day witnessed some events like Nukkad Natak, Gully Cricket, Line follower, Antakshri, Kavi Sammelan, Burn the roads and Step Up. The day and the fest came to end by certificate distribu-tion and brilliant fireworks show that marked the closing of Renaissance 2015.

Nukkad Natak was a huge success and its aim to aware people about matters of social interest got successful, final day of Gully cricket was witnessed and alumni talks were organized at the conference hall that was also a huge success.

Antakshri and Kavi Sammelan truly had an essence of our culture and tradition and students enjoyed thorough-ly, participants as well as the audience.

of various teams which surely turned the temperature up. Step up was the most crowd attracting event of Renais-sance’s last day with dancer’s following the religion and carving history. The last event for the day was Certificate distri-bution, to recognize participants, coordinators and core team for the hard work put in by them to make Renais-sance a huge success.At the end a fireworks show was organized marking the end of Renaissance’15 and hop-ing to see Renaissance next year with more enthusiasm.
