Roseville Area Foundation Grant and PTA has met the financial request to complete the projects. The calculator request was split 50/50 Roseville Foundation and PTA funds. The STEM Ventureproject is coming from several sources. I had the opportunity to write a Principal Grant through theFoundation and we received $4,000 to help us pay someone to implement this vision of enrichment.Other funds to support this project have come from GT budget dollars, matching dollars fromRokenbok Education and PTA grant dollars. Mrs. Lundy, GT Lead at Falcon, Trina Hira, GT DistrictCoordinator, Carolyn India-Black, Alicia Sandy and myself have met to design an Enrichment optionwith a STEM focus. The vision is to have a hired person come into classrooms to teach a lesson withan Engineering component. All students K-5 will have multiple lessons until the end of the year.Alicia Sandy has agreed to be the lead for the project and the teacher who comes into workalongside the classroom teacher. At this time we have ordered the curriculum and are beginning tocreate a schedule. We look forward to sharing more with you as the project unfolds in theclassrooms.

PBIS - Falcon's Commitment to Teaching Positive Behavior and ExpectationsWe have reviewed the Falcon 4 Expectations with all children this month and continue to call ourYay! You! students to acknowledge the great actions of our students as they follow the Falcon 4.When a student's name is drawn they have the invitation to come to the office and choose from alist of social rewards - spend the day with Falca or Falco (stuffed Falcons), enjoy Fine Dining awayfrom the cafeteria with a friend, have lunch with a staff member, make a sweet treat for a staffmember, use the Falcon Chair, do the morning announcements, to name a few. Students areexcited to hear their name called and their classmates are happy for them too. Please know that we also continue to teach and reteach these expectations in the classroom andSTAR room. We have refined and will continue to refine a system of communication so that you, asfamily are aware of when your child has needed some reteaching and redirection either by theteacher or by another support staff. We ask that when you do receive this communication that youtake a moment to talk with your child about what happened and what they can do in the future tonot repeat the same behavior. If you have questions/concerns about what has been communicatedback home, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or the staff member whoprocessed a situation/problem with your child for follow up. Thank you for being in partnershipwith us as we together help all students become the best that they can be everyday at FalconHeights.

Falcon Heights News

Did You Just Call?If your caller ID shows you received a phone call from Falcon Heights and a message was not left,

please be aware that there is no way we can find out who called you. There are over 50 phones in

the building that will all show up as the main extension. Please wait for a return call. Falcon

Heights policy is to not interrupt classes to find out if your child has tried to call you.

Attendance RemindersBeing in school every day means your child won’t miss out on learning. Try to schedule

appointments and family trips outside of school hours. If he asks to stay home “just because,”

remind him of what he’ll miss, such as his reading group or art class. Explain that he can be absent

only if he’s sick or if there’s a family emergency. Also please remember that school begins at 8:55

a.m. Students are expected to be in their classrooms and ready to learn at that time.
