As we come to the end of another year I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers for their continued business with PC Cox.

I am pleased to report that during 2015 we launched exciting new additions of cordless products – the COX Electraflow Plus & Easipower Plus applicator - and for the first time we can now offer a range of single and dual component products equipped with dosing capability. This is an exciting development, as precision dispensing is becoming more beneficial. Often robotic dispensers are not suitable for certain environments or simply too expensive.

We will continue to add new models to these battery operated product ranges covering as many applications as possible – especially in the dual component area.

2016 will be a momentous year for PC Cox in the UK as we plan to relocate our manufacturing facilities. We currently operate from nineteen separate units at our present location in Newbury. Consolidating our operations locally into one building and the major investment in new plant and equipment will help to improve our operational effectiveness. The move will both streamline and speed up production, something we believe will be appreciated by all of our customers.

I would like to wish all of our customers a happy holiday period and a successful, peaceful and prosperous New Year. Thank you again for your support and we look forward to working with you again in 2016 and strengthening our relationships for the future.

2015 has proved to be a very busy year – not just for myself, but for the entire PC Cox Commercial team too.

One of our objectives during 2015 was to spend more time with our customers and visiting when possible. The goal was to enable us to strengthen relationships to allow for greater flexibility in an often difficult market situation. Our Sales Team have also been working with new customers across the globe which has resulted in various new and interesting projects that we are now working on.

To support our drive for increased sales and relationship building I have been visiting customers in France, Portugal, Brazil and Germany as well as attending several exhibitions, one of which included the Bond Expo in Stuttgart, Germany where PC Cox exhibits every two years. This was a great show with interesting visitors from around the world, and we were very proud to show and demonstrate our new dosing system – a big step in our product development. We can now program our cordless/battery operated applicators to dispense a specified dose at a certain speed, all with the press of a button.

Full collateral materials will be available shortly in the New Year.

More exciting news includes the development and creation of our new website. It was agreed there were opportunities for further information and tools to be incorporated into the site, which we anticipate will further aid both distributors and end users once completed in early 2016.

We are also planning to exhibit at several exhibitions in the UK and Germany. With the cooperation of a new stand builder in Germany, we have now started to plan these events more efficiently and the expertise will certainly allow us to get the most out of the shows.

Moving forward into 2016, the aim for myself and my team is to continue to build customer relationships and offer solutions to any problems – might these be technical or market competition related. We are here to help!

With this in mind, I wish you and your families happy holidays and a great new year.

Season’s Greetings from Leigh Smith, CEO

and Gerry Hernandez, Commercial Director

New products and developments

Warm up for Winter! With the temperatures lowering in the northern hemisphere it can be a challenge to work with sealants and adhesives, especially in the construction industry where many applications are done outside or in uninsulated environments.

PC Cox now offers a great solution – the Caulk Warmer. These heated bags come in two sizes and preheat material in cartridges or sachets to lower the viscosity, making material easier to extrude.

For convenience, you can even heat the materials on the way to the building site with an adaptor that will plug into a car cigarette lighter (not provided by COX).

Twisty Nozzle and Nozzle ExtensionNow available in the COX accessory range: The Twisty Nozzle and the Nozzle Extension. These clever additions enable dispenser and applicator users to effortlessly reach difficult places and corners (such as behind radiators or ceiling corners).

The Twisty Nozzle provides 360° rotation and can easily be manipulated into the right angle required for the job, whilst the Nozzle Extension can be used to make the provided cartridge nozzle (or similar) longer. Several extensions can also be threaded together to provide an even longer reach.

The two products fit on standard plastic cartridge threads and can even be used together.

The new cordless Electraflow Plus range has now expanded to include dual component applicators. These exciting new products – including the CBE 50 for 50ml cartridges – come with all the features and benefits of the single component applicators, such as a

speed regulated trigger to slow down dispensing where needed, rubber over moulds for comfort and a hanging loop for suspension in industrial environments.

The important and crucial new feature for this range is its dosing system. All of the Electraflow Plus applicators can now be programmed to dispense the exact same dose of material in the same speed every time the trigger is activated. In a time that calls for precise dispensing, this is a ground breaking development! The dosing system will reduce waste of material and speed up the application process for the user.

PC Cox is working on developing several different sizes that will be able to take most cartridge ratios side by side and coaxial.

Catherine Shepherd, who studied English and graduated during her time at PC Cox, helped in the marketing department by creating content for brochures and proofreading literature; she checked and changed content for the website and also created invitations for exhibitions. Another main part of her work experience was to find, check and compare pricing for a specific product analysis project. On her final day, Catherine presented her findings to our directors and CEO, and everyone was very impressed with her hard work.

Alex Roashan is in his third year studying Mechanical Engineering. As part of the Engineering Department at PC Cox, he worked, amongst other things, on a branding project. This included finding possibilities to brand COX products (pad printing, laser edging, etc.) and also branding packaging materials. The project is still ongoing but Alex’s research has helped a great deal to move this forward. He too presented his findings to our directors and CEO, who all felt he had worked very hard and were very happy with his results.

We thank both Catherine and Alex for all their hard work and wish them the best for the future.

On Thursday 17th September, Southampton University held the Excel Southampton Awards ceremony within The Hilton at The Ageas Bowl. This annual event recognises and celebrates the achievements of their students during their internships, which is organised and facilitated by the Excel Southampton Internship Programme. It also recognises the outstanding contribution of their host employers, who enable students to gain the vital skills, advice and experience that are so crucial in today’s competitive job market.

Professor Alex Neill, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Education, presented awards to students from various faculties based on the University’s values of Excellence, Creativity, Community and Integrity, as well as an award for Outstanding Achievement. There were also three additional awards presented to employers including Business Host, University Host, and the first ever Third Sector Host of the Year award.

PC Cox is proud to announce that we won the award for “Business Host of the Year”!

As part of the Build Show, PC Cox exhibited with a new stand and a new approach. The products were displayed in three different segments, making it easy for visitors to recognise the different types of applicators – manual, pneumatic and battery operated.

With Giles Lumb (Business Development Manager – Europe), Karen Kaye (Customer Service Administrator), Paul Bremner (Product Manager) and Annika Bowhay (Marketing Communications) offering their expertise at the stand, the show resulted in many new contacts as well as an interest in new products from existing customers.

Pc Cox has already booked a space for next year’s exhibition, which will take place from 18-20th October 2016.

Did you know?

It’s been a busy year for our Business Development Manager for Europe, Eva Weber, who has been visiting different companies and customers with varying and sometimes very specific requirements in applications.

In Switzerland, new variations of Floor Dispensers are being discussed and in Germany, PC Cox is looking at helping a company that repairs green energy wind turbines.

Eva has, amongst other things, introduced the Dynamic Mixing System for dual component materials, and she is currently working with a flat roof specialist on a new solution for applying adhesives more easily and effectively to save time and effort.

Another interesting use of our applicators, in this instance our small MR 50 applicator (for 50ml cartridges in various ratios), which is being used to dispense materials in the hearing technology and audiometry sector. We also have a customer in the UK that uses this tool to help produce ear moulds for hearing aids.

In October, Eva attended the BondExpo in Stuttgart to meet and greet further customers and show them our new exciting range of Electraflow Plus Dual Drive applicators with dosing systems.

In the New Year she will be attending the International Hardware Show in Cologne for the first time and will be introducing the new cordless range to her customers in Europe. Following this, more visits abroad are in the pipeline for 2016.

Giles has been visiting customers and companies interested in COX products in Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK.

He has been introducing PC Cox and new COX product variants whilst also training our customers, Sales and Product Managers as required. Giles has been talking to OEMs about private labelling and has helped customers choose the right portfolio of applicators for the right sector – for example industrial applications and in the construction market.

For the first time, PC Cox exhibited at UK Construction Week, and Giles was manning the stand throughout the three days, engaging with customers and networking with a variety of visitors at the show.

Giles will take part in UK Construction Week 2016 and is also planning on visiting and potentially exhibiting at some UK roadshows. In addition, he will be supporting the team at the International Hardware Show being held in Cologne - March 2016.

Eugene Tan, our Business Development Manager for the Asia Pacific region has been travelling frequently to maintain and build upon current customer relationships, as well as meet new potential ones.

In Malaysia he met with a major sealant manufacturer for the area to introduce PC Cox and our products; he also introduced the Jetflow 3 to an existing customer and provided a training session on how to best use and maintain this tool. Our conversion kit was also shown, which enables the customer to convert between cartridge and sachet quickly and efficiently.

In October, Eugene travelled to Mumbai, India and met, amongst other companies, with a large construction material supplier and a distributer for automotive aftermarket goods. His research shows that India has a great need for good quality tools; for example, a glazer will extrude 80-100 (!) cartridges per day, so a long tool life and ease of use (including

comfort) are a popular request. There is also a demand for dual component applicators, which Eugene is planning to look into the specifics for.

In China, Eugene provided further training and support to an existing customer and on his travels to Jarkarta, Indonesia, his market analysis showed that the potential for sachet applicators is there, and that cordless tools are a new product on the market.

Last but not least, Eugene went to Manila, Philippines and introduced PC Cox to a potential new customer, who are involved in road and concrete repairs. Our dual component applicators will prove to be very useful in this location.

In November, PC Cox took part in the annual Forum of ISGATEC GmbH (International Sealing and Gasket Technology) in Germany.

The engaging subject “Precision dosing techniques for sealant and adhesive systems” was the perfect segment to introduce COX products, highlighting their unique features and benefits.

Joachim Rapp from Innotech GmbH was a speaker during the segment titled: “precision dispensing and manual application – is that possible?”, and used the opportunity to show that COX applicators are easily up to the challenge, explaining that they’ve always been at the forefront of the

industry when it comes to featuring power ratios, no matter if manual, pneumatic or battery operated. With the new dosing system in the cordless range of Electraflow Plus products, precision is now easier than ever before, and unlike robotic machines still flexible and movable.

The well-respected range of attendees in the audience came from a variety of different sectors in the market, but nevertheless all had similar requirements when it came to precise dispensing. Many of the attendees showed a great interest in the COX applicators, and were impressed by their flexibility when adapting to different applications.

A huge thanks to the organisers of the Forum – we will certainly continue to work with ISGATEC GmbH moving forwards into the future.

Our IT department has recently reconfigured our server to ‘futureproof’ our network with regards to available IP addresses. With the building move imminent and an increasing number of colleagues now working from abroad, there was a growing need for an option to create more IP addresses.

The improvement was made by implementing a new VM run by Windows Server 2012. This will now ensure that for the coming years all communications and data storage will run smoothly.
