Great Lens combinations for facial or license plate recognition:

Using pixels per foot, ppf, calculations, a 3mp camera has 2048 H pixels. You want to capture license

plates or facial recognition.

License Plate requires 60ppf

Facial with high detail 140ppf

Facial with low detail 25ppf

NOT all lenses are alike. And the lens greatly effects the outcome of the video picture.

Arecont uses mid grade 3mp lenses in their dome camera’s to be cost effective.

However, when the best picture is needed, a lens upgrade makes a must clearer - sharper picture.

I have a couple favorite 1/2” format lenses for Arecont 1/2” format sensors:

A.) Tameron makes a UHD machine vision lens: Available from Arecont

M118FM08 - 8mm and M118FM16 - 16mm are fixed lenses

I use these for my best video.

B.) Fujinon makes some excellent Manual Iris Varifocal lenses.

DV4x12.5SR4A-1 is a new 5mp lens, 12.5 – 50 is very good for long distance.

DV3.8X4SR4A-SA1 is a 4-15mm, 3mp, Day/Night lens for wide angle shots.

DV10X8SR4A-SA1 is a 8—80mm, 3mp, Long throw Day/Night lens for telephoto
