Term 4, Week 2 Wednesday 24th October, 2018

Welcome to the first Clairgate Chronicle for Term 4.

We are looking forward to a fast, busy and productive

term.

Kindy Orientation

Today we welcomed our new 2019 Kindergarten

students for their first Transition session. Our Year 5

students helped the little ones by taking them to the

Kinder rooms. This first session was an information

gathering session for the parents in the hall while the

“new” kinders worked in their classrooms with

Ms Soo Kee, Mrs Linnert, Mrs Johnson, Mrs Millevoi,

Mrs Roberts and Mrs Borel. The children all looked like

they had a great time – well done to everyone. See

you all in a fortnight’s time.

Some New Classes at Clairgate

Next year we will have an extra resource at Clairgate

to support students with special needs in our area, in

particular students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

This continues the wonderful work of all staff at

Clairgate, building on our capacity as a Positive

Partnerships School. It is a true recognition from State

Office about the wonderful work currently happening

at Clairgate in this area. We will have 3 classes

(7 students in each class) in new demountable

classrooms situated next to the Kindergarten

bathrooms. This is just another way our school

continues to cater for individual learning needs.

Students in these classes will have the opportunity to

grow and flourish in a setting that complements their

unique learning style. I will be discussing this further

at the next P&C meeting for those who are interested

in hearing more about these supported learning

classes.

Colour Run

It was delightful to see puzzled little faces on Monday

morning when the children came to school. The

playground was awash with colour – from balloons in

the trees… to crepe paper around the poles…to

colourful chalk drawings around the walls and

concrete. All the children were wondering what was

going on and many tried to guess. “Is it Rainbow

Day?” asked one child. They were all excited when

Ms Paulic announced that we would be having a

Colour Run next month (Thursday, 29th November).

For those of you who are not familiar with this - it is a

Fun Run with a difference. As children run past several

“Colour Stations”, they are doused with powdered

colour. At the end of the run children are absolutely

covered with colour. So exciting! Information should

have come home with your child yesterday about

sponsor forms etc.

Merit Assembly – Certificates

Our big Merit Assembly to celebrate students

achieving Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Awards will

be held on Thursday, 22nd November at 2.00pm in the

hall. If you have any certificates or principal awards

that count towards your child receiving one of our big

awards – would you please bring them in to

Mrs McInally.

www.schools.nsw.edu.au/shsplacement

carnival. Congratulations to the following major

award winners:

*Junior Boys Athletics Champion: Billy Higgins

*Junior Girls Athletics Champion: Lorelai Sarina

*Senior Boys Athletics Champion: Zac Hanson

*Senior Girls Athletics Champion: Vicsa Tubashiku

* Champion House Team: Jackson

Final Sport Assembly

Clairgate’s Final Sport Assembly will be held in the

school hall on Tuesday 27th November (2pm).

Awards to be presented include: Best & Fairest

Players (Summer & Winter PSSA), Boys & Girls Sport

persons of the year, plus much more! All welcome.

League Tag Gala Day

The 2018 League Tag (Oztag) Gala Day will be held on

Wednesday 31st October at The Kingsway, St Marys.

Mr Blanch and Ms Paulic will be supervising. Clairgate

will be sending 4 teams to participate at the carnival.

These teams will consist of: 2 Senior (mixed) &

2 Junior (mixed) squads. All teams have been selected

and notes will be sent home this week.

Boys State Knockout Touch Footy

Congratulations to our wonderful Boys Touch Team

who made the Last 16 in this year’s NSW Touch State

Knockout competition. This is an amazing effort,

considering this competition starts with over 400

teams each year! The boys are to be commended on

making the final round 7 this year. During their run,

the team defeated schools such as James Erskine,

Ropes Crossing and Crestwood. A huge thank you to

all of our terrific parents and

supporters who cheered for us at

each game and also helped with

transport along the way. Also,

thank you to Mr & Mrs

Williams for allowing us to use

Roper Rd field.
