We are asking Chamber members to consider giving a donation. All of our 12 Days of Christmas prizes

are at least $50.00 in value, with some of them valued at $100.00 or more. Examples include local

restaurant or local retail gift cards, or a holiday themed basket.

As a donor, you, your organization, or your business will receive several different forms of

acknowledgement for your generous support:

Hello!

The second annual Trail of Treats and Halloween Costume Contest will be held on Sunday, October 29th at the nature

trail in Waterworth Memorial Park. Last year over 200 kids and parents/grandparents participated in the event which

had to be moved indoors at the last-minute due to inclement weather conditions. It is my strong belief that this year’s

attendance could easily double, especially if we get a pleasant weather day.

Here’s how the program works:

Local businesses, clubs, organizations and even individuals are assigned a location along the trail.

Our “distributors” are 1) required to pass out candy to all youth as they pass by. 2) encouraged to have any type of

promotional material available to hand out to the adults (flyers, coupons, pens, etc.) Let people know who you are and

what you do (promote yourself). 3) encouraged to also dress up for the event in your favorite Halloween costume. An

award will be given to the best distributor table/display.

There will be a costume contest before the Trail of Treats program begins. Anyone walking the trail, even if they decided

not to participate in the costume contest, will be encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume. Last year

over $200 in Toys-R-Us gift certificates were given out to the children and the “best family” award won a $50 gift card to

Boneshakers Restaurant.

This is a win-win-win program for everybody. Kids get candy and prizes, adults get coupons and other free stuff and local

businesses, clubs and organizations get to promote themselves and interact directly with the community in a fun, family

friendly atmosphere.

The event is organized and presented by the Salem Parks & Recreation Department and the Eyes for Olivia Foundation.

We invite you to participate in the trail of Treats and Halloween Costume Contest this year. All businesses, clubs,

organizations and individuals will be listed and recognized in the local newspapers and on the Salem Parks &

Recreation’s Facebook page as we begin to promote this fun event.

If you are interested in participating or just need more information, please call me at 330-332-5512 or email me at

[email protected].

Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon,
