News of the Society for Economic Botany ANNUAL MEETING IN CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA The Eighth Annual Meeting of The Society for Economic Botany will be held at the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida, on June 5-8, 1967. Registration will be in Broekway Lecture Hall, Otto G. Richter Library, from 8:00-9:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5. A field trip to Fairchild Tropical Garden, USD~ Plant Introduction Station, and the University of Florida Subtropical Experiment Station is planned for Monday, June 5, immediately following registration. Transportation for the ~ield trip will be by chartered bus ($1.00 per person) and box lunches will be provided ($1.50 per person). Tuesday, June 6, is devoted to contributed-papers sessions. Papers of 10-15 minutes each, on any topic relating to economic botany, will be considered for these sessions. A social hour from 6:15-7:15 p.m. and the annual dinner and business meeting from 7:30-9:00 will complete the scheduled activities on Tuesday. All of Wednesday is scheduled to a symposium on Protein for Food. Ten outstanding speakers will develop this topic from as many approaches. Improving the world's food protein supply is a challenging problem of large dimensions. The Society is proud to sponsor this panel of experts. We urge that as many people as possible, whether or not they are Society members, take advantage of this opportunity to learn of the latest thinking and newest approaches toward solutions to this important problem. Thursday morning will be given over to a final session of contributed papers and a luncheon, with invited speaker, will conclude the meeting.
