NEWS NEWS & UPDATES Issue 4 / May 2013 Welcome to the April Q4 issue of TD3 Top-Up. The forth update in our regular series of newsletters bringing you news, information and updates about TechDoc , GTS diagnostic software and hardware. So, here we are at the start of a new financial year. The cold weather appears to have finally left us, TechDoc2 after a short extension has finally closed down. In this issue we show you where to access some of the important data and application we have migrated to TD3 Many will mourn the passing of TD2 given the problems we are still experiencing publishing manuals to TD3. Last issue we told you about the problems we had been experiencing publishing manuals to TD3 since introducing the new TMC data, unfortunately, those problems are still with us. We don’t like it, explanations and apologies below. May will see the launch of the new PROACE van. This issue gives you a “Where to find what” on service information. Next issue, hopefully, our publishing problems will be behind us and we can start to elaborate our TechDoc development plans for FY13. Clearly we have some stabilisation and performance work to do, but equally we cannot stand still, for that is to go backwards. It’s going to be a busy year. TD3 Manuals, late delivery I am sure I do not need to tell you that we are continuing to experience problems getting both English and translated versions of manuals out into markets. Background: Last year TMC began to supply manuals in a new data format. We had to make changes to our localisation and distribution systems. We also took the opportunity to streamline the production process. This should have made the delivery process faster. Unfortunately, this has introduced some deep seated problems and we have struggled to fully understand the root causes. To fix this we have created a specialist team who have already identified some of the root causes, so by the time you read this, you should already see some manuals beginning to flow into the system. We can only apologise for this situation and assure you we are very hard to resolve the issues as soon as possible. 1

NEWS & UPDATES

Issue 4 / May 2013Welcome to the April Q4 issue of TD3 Top-Up. The forth update in our regular series of newsletters bringing you news, information and updates about TechDoc , GTS diagnostic software and hardware.

So, here we are at the start of a new financial year. The cold weather appears to have finally left us, TechDoc2 after a short extension has finally closed down. In this issue we show you where to access some of the important data and application we have migrated to TD3

Many will mourn the passing of TD2 given the problems we are still experiencing publishing manuals to TD3.

TD3 Manuals, late deliveryI am sure I do not need to tell you that we are continuing to experience problems getting both English and translated versions of manuals out into markets.

Hybrid Health Check.HHC moves into full swing, now live in 15 markets and over 600 successful tests carried from April to date. During this quarter we will continue to expand coverage to Lexus vehicles.

HHC is an important service marketing tool and helps greatly in building customer confidence around older hybrid product. To ensure markets are ready and fully prepared , please see the In-Tune best practice article and communi-cate the importance of keeping the GTS tool up-to-date.

TD3 User RolesTo provide some additional flexibility within TD3 role structure, we have introduced two new roles.

- NMSC Trainer - A/R Service Advisor

The A/R service advisor role in particular provides greater flexibility with assign-ment of privileges for the Hybrid Health Check. The Roles and Widgets matrix on the TME homepage has been updated accordingly.

PROACe service InformationRepair manuals for PROACE .Repair manuals for PROACE are scheduled to be in production on 13 May. Initially the manuals will be loaded to TD1 to satisfy compliance issues. There will of course be links in the TD3 search to simplify navigation to the manual.

PROACE manuals are developed differently to the normal TMC process, and so may look and feel a little unfamiliar. We have tried to structure the information to be as user friendly as possible.

EWDPROACE EWDs also follow some different concepts to normal TMC process. We have placed a presentation on the TME home page for familiarisation. We will continue to add to and refine the way we present PROACE data.

Technical BulletinsTechnical bulletins will be generated internally by TME and follow our normal distribution process to TD3 and TD1.

Parts catalogueParts catalogue is currently available on TD1 but subject to Kaizen activity. Links available via TD3 Quick links widget

Flat Rate Times.Flat rate times published in the repair manual are not usable for warranty claims and should be ignored. Flat rate times for warranty claims are published within CWS and on TD1 as a publication.

Special Service Tools (SST)A limited number of SSTs are required. A list is provided within the repair manual along with conversion table to TOYOTA part numbers. SSTs can be ordered directly via TPCE normal parts channels using the TOYOTA conversion numbers.

New Format ewDWithin this quarter, TMC will start supply of a new format EWD for all new models. Existing style EWD will be phased out.

Key benefits of the new format are improved performance, faster operation, integration with TD3, support for additional browsers Chrome, Firefox browsers as well as Internet Explorer 9.

If you are using IE8 you will need the Adobe SVG Viewer plug in as before.

Initially, only English, French, German and Spanish language variants will be available, other market supported languages will become available as soon as the translation route is available.

We will also start to republish existing EWD on all TD3 published models in order to take advantage of the improved browser support and performance gain.

A sample EWD has been published on TD3 alongside the existing type EWD for NG Auris.

Please take a look and let us know your thoughts

In-TuneBest practice guidance for getting the best from your investment in diagnostic PCFrom our Intune data analysis, we see many of the diagnostic PCs remain unused or not connected to the internet for extended periods of time. The problem is that when you do connect to the internet, the first action performed is to check for and install any updates. This may delay any diagnostic work for some time. Potentially, this could extend to hours depending on how long the PC has been inactive.

To avoid this.Best practice and as a minimum, you should connect your diagnostic PC to the internet for a least an hour once a week and let the PC update itself. This will minimise and delays and embarrassment of keeping customers waiting or loosing precious workshop labour sales.
