Blood Drive Saves Lives!

On October 10th, Water Management in Virginia joined their neighbor, ABM,

to participate in a Blood Drive. We had a number of employees who

mustered up the courage to face a needle, and went over to ABM to donate

blood. As far as we know, no one fainted!

Each person who donated can help save up to three lives. Did you know

that, on average, every two seconds there is someone in the U.S. who needs a

blood transfusion? For patients who need blood transfusions, blood

donations are critical, as there is no substitute for human blood. Blood

donations help patients of all ages, and your donation may be used to help

accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and

those battling cancer. Thank you to those who came out for the Blood Drive!

Watch out for Forklift Trainees! Last month, we held Forklift Training

classes in our Alexandria office.

Richard led a classroom training

session in our conference room,

where we watched a training video,

took a quiz, and had discussions about

important safety rules for forklift

driving. The following week, Richard

and Reggie held a forklift

demonstration in the warehouse.

Now it is up to the trainees to

schedule individual practice sessions

with one of our Senior Forklift

Operators. The following employees

will be tested, then hopefully certified,

as Forklift Operators:

Master Plumbers on the Way Congratulations to Charlie Gildehaus on passing the Virginia Master Plumbers

test! He joins Buster Vroom as one of our newest Master Plumbers. Virginia

Master Plumbing licenses require 10 years of field experience and the ability to

pass a written test on plumbing codes and technical knowledge. We hope to

add the words “Master Plumber” to our lexicon when speaking with clients, as

in, “That sounds like a difficult problem. We will send one of our Master

Plumbers out to investigate the problem, and let you know what we can do to

resolve it.”

Gearing up to take the Virginia Master Plumbing license test are Tony, Mark

Harewood and Spencer. Good luck, guys!

Employee Updates

Nery is moving on after 9 years with us, and his last day was October 3rd. We thank him for all of his hard work,

for the many projects he supervised, and for the many, many installations he has done over the years! We wish

him the best of luck in his new job!

Bill Harrison has been busy traveling the last few months, with little time

to go home. He worked on three Brookdale jobs in Florida, then moved

on to a Brookdale job in Carrollton, Georgia. Bill, Reggie and Dennis

rebuilt toilets in Palm Beach, and Bill worked with a subcontractor on the

other sites, installing over 400 toilets. Johnathan worked with Bill on

Brookdale Franklin, and they installed SSI .8 toilets at River Terrace

Apartments in the Nashville area. The ADC dropped from 110 to 48!

Johnathan Williams and James Palmer just landed in Colorado to work

on a Brookdale project there for a few weeks.

Jeff Bell has been working out of the Virginia office for a few weeks, helping out on crew jobs, and also filling in

as needed in the Service Department.

Butch Deibler is back in Virginia as well, and will be helping with inventory, crew worksheet entries, and other

work as needed.

Chris Boldon has been in New York working with our consultant, Vivienne Rollins, promoting the SUEZ water

conservation project.

Crew Kudos!

After completing work recently at a Gates Hudson job, we heard from their Property Manager:

“Just a quick note to let everyone know that the project was completed last

week. I would like to thank the water management team for making this process

problem free. The technicians were friendly, professional and proficient in

their work. I hope we will be able to use the same team on the next project”

Thank you to Eddie, Mel, James B, and G for a job well done!

Benefit Updates

Health Insurance Credit

We received a credit back from CareFirst for a small portion of the premiums that employees and Water

Management paid in 2017. If you were on CareFirst insurance last year, you may have received a letter about

this recently. To allocate this credit, we are stopping health insurance deductions for the 10/26 and 11/2

payrolls. Enjoy the break from health insurance payments, compliments of CareFirst!

Health Insurance for 2019

We received our renewal from Aetna for our health insurance plan for 2019, and unfortunately rates will be

increasing. We are looking at other Health Insurance options to compare costs. We will keep you posted! If you

have any positive or negative comments about using Aetna this year, or any questions, please let Yvonne know!

Cell Phone Benefit

Just as a reminder, Water Management has elected to provide cell phones to employees for company/business

use. Employees also have the option of paying for their own service, and getting reimbursed up to $50 per

month. The primary reason WMI furnishes employees with a company cell phone is to facilitate communication

efforts when employees are out of the office.

Water Managment issues phones to employees for non-compensatory business purposes, and expects that by

providing this phone, you will be available by phone for work-related matters. In addition, you are required to

monitor your voicemail status, and respond to and delete voicemail messages.

Responsibility of Having a Phone

Please notify Dave immediately of any damages or malfunctions, or if the phone is lost or stolen. You accept

responsibility for the company-issued phone and all phone accessories. If the phone and/or phone accessories

are lost, stolen, or damaged within 18 months of issue, the employee will be charged between $50 and $500 for

replacement through a payroll deduction, depending on the Verizon pricing available at the time.

New Vehicle on the Road

Our Tennessee office was able to secure a deal on a new

Dodge Promaster van, which will help with projects in

their region and help with deliveries in the

Franklin/Nashville area. They had been hobbling along

with a 1998 F150 truck and a 2004 Freestar van, and word

has it that they are now looking and feeling more

professional in their new wheels!

Accounting and Inventory

Please be aware that we are in Year-End mode, as our fiscal Year ends

October 31st. If you have any receipts, invoices, payments, mileage

logs, etc to turn in, please do so now!

Tony will be managing the year-end inventory count, and would

appreciate any help he can get!

New Money Management Resource

Nearly half of Americans say their financial situation stresses them out, and they don’t know where to get help or where to start. We know there’s a lot to think about when it comes to your finances — both now and later. But with the right knowledge, you can live well today and plan well for tomorrow. Our 401(k) Provider, The Principal, now has a new resource available for all of us. Principal Milestones can help you prioritize and make more informed decisions with financial resources in one convenient place at no additional cost to you. They are providing access to education, resources and inspiration for money management and other financial priorities. It’s all available on the new Principal® Milestones website.

Recent research identifies attitude as the most significant factor behind financial decision-making. Those who

don’t feel confident about their finances are 64 percent more likely to postpone making major financial

decisions than those who are more confident, regardless of their income. People who spend some time learning

about financial planning are 75 percent more likely to be confident in their financial future.

Just Cook-in’ in the Rain!

We recently had a Fall cook-out, but due to the heavy rain, it turned out to be a cook-in. Tom was able to set up

the grill just inside the warehouse, and with some help from our large fan, we were able to blow a majority of

the smoke out into the parking lot. However, this blew the wonderful scent of grilled hamburgers, chicken and

hot dogs out into the parking lot, where delivery drivers were coming and going. We had a few of them follow

their nose, and ask if they could join us! There was plenty of food for all, and everyone seemed to enjoy a break

from work and from the rain outside. We celebrated Joyce’s 15th year with Water Management, and said our

goodbyes to Nery while we were all together. A Big Thanks to Katie, Tom, Jeanna, and all those who helped!

Tom keeps an eye on the food,

while Joy and Spencer keep an

eye on the downpour of rain.

Donnie giving us an idea of

how many platefuls of food

Mike had.

The buffet line was long,

but worth the wait!

Just Cook-in’ in the Rain! (continued)

Nery is talking with Eddie about the

delicious food we provide, and wondering

why he is leaving now.

Rick is showing Tony and Mark the secret

ingredients in hot dogs, fortunately it

was after they had already eaten.

Katie, Yvonne, and Pete waiting for more

grilled veggies, and Coco hoping for more

meat to be dropped on the floor.

Joy and Yvonne reminiscing with

Joyce about the good old days back

when she was hired 15 years ago.

Per Diem Policy Reminders

Per Diem Per diem is only available for trips involving an overnight stay, as ruled by the IRS.

Full day per diem will be issued for any day that an employee has put in a regular shift at an out-of-town job, regardless of whether or not it was also a travel day.

Full day per diem will be issued when an employee travels 300 or more miles in a day.

Half day per diem will be issued when an employee has a travel day that involves less than 300 miles of travel, and has not worked a regular shift.

For job less than 3 hours from home, weekends off do not qualify for per diem, except for ½ day per diem for evening prior to start of new week (ex. Sunday = half day per diem)

Projects that are 3 hours or more from home (by car), and remote projects requiring airfare qualify for per diem for weekends. Factors that may adjust this: project budget, weekend work, free rooms, free breakfasts, etc.

Per diem is only available for remote employees coming to the Virginia office for days they are working on a billable job. Per diem for this work is calculated at 60% of regular per diem.

You and your manager should discuss the travel days and per diem particulars before the start of your out-of-town assignment.
