Special Encore Celebration Showcase in September (date to be confirmed).
Welcome new staff members
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Sharni Williams to our teaching staff. Sharni will be joining our great Classi-cal Ballet teaching team. Clas-sical Ballet has certainly grown at Encore since it was intro-duced to our studio 10 years ago. This year we have includ-ed 3 new classes for young-sters. Sharni till this year was teaching at Ritz Performing Arts School in Queensland and we thrill to have her join our teaching staff.
With the introduction of Acro-bats to our curriculum we welcome experienced coach Bridget Andrewartha. This is already proving to be a popu-lar class.
Read more about Sharni and Bridget later in this news-letter.
Class Placements
Please be patient with the staff over the next few weeks as we make sure that every-one is in the class they should be in, so everyone gets the most out of their dance time
with us.
A big welcome to our new students and their families. Its going to be a very very ex-citing & fun year!
Sharon Shirley
Studio Director
Happy New Year and welcome to Encore's biggest year of Dance! We hope you all had a good Christmas and an enjoy-able New Year and are looking forward to our 30th year of dance.
Our Studio
There has been even more work done on the studio over the holidays and it is finally looking fabulous. There has been more painting and gen-eral tidy up happened during the holidays. A huge thank you to Emily, Cathy Packer, Joy Hooper, Julie Jacobs, Fiona Colbert and all their lovely daughters for sorting out cos-tumes (a huge job) but it is now great to see some space in our costume storage area.
Your help was very much ap-preciated.
2012 Celebrations
In 2012 we will continue to work towards getting our stu-dents Fit for Dance. The fit-ness program for dancers which we developed last year has been tweaked and will continue in 2012 with the goal to not only have our students fit for dance but fit for life.
New Acro Classes
This class has already proving to be very popular with a 2nd class already being added to our schedule. It looks like students are keen to learn some acro skills to add to their dance skills to help produce that "wow' element to their dance. There are now 2 clas-ses being run on Friday after-noons. Acro classes com-mence from Friday 9/3/12.
Class Timetable Changes
There have been some chang-es to our class timetable from the one that was sent out last year. Please check the timeta-ble in this newsletter.
Email Address
In our 30th year we are trying to embrace modern technolo-gy and are hoping to email newsletters just to make sure no-one misses out on any of our celebration news. If you did not receive an email last week with amended timetable please make sure we have the correct details at the office to ensure you receive infor-mation.
Performances 2012
We will be having all our nor-mal yearly performances. All jazz & tap students will have the opportunity of partici-pating in dance assessments in either jazz or tap in early Au-gust. Our mini-concert is planned for Sunday November 4th and our major concert Saturday 1st December. We are also planning an extra

30th Birthday
The Encore Summer Work-
shop is a great opportunity to
experience new styles and
teachers. Workshop is an en-
joyable time to meet new peo-
ple, to learn from different
teachers and to get out of your
comfort zone. It was really fun
to learn so much in such a
short time. The routines were
fun and challenging and the
fitness classes helped you
whilst you were doing the rou-
tines. We were lucky enough
to have Abbie Waitt down to
teach us some Tap, and Ste-
phen Agisilaou for Contempo-
rary. It was such an amazing
experience to learn from two
spectacular dancers. We really
can’t wait for another oppor-
tunity like this one. We would
like to thank all our teachers
who made the workshop pos-
sible!

you.
My background is mainly in
gymnastics but also some
trampolining and tumbling as
well as cheerleading.
I started gymnastics at the
age of 3 and have been in-
volved ever since. I was a gym-
nast for 13 years and began to
coach at the age of 14 and I
have never stopped. I current-
ly coach children from 4 years
to 16 years of all different skill
levels for both gymnastics and
trampolining.

(Acrobats)
Hi all! My name is Bridget and I
will be taking Acro this year. I
am very excited to become a
part of the Encore family and
people and coaches, including
those from the Australian Insti-
tute of Sport. For me, there is
nothing better than see-
ing somebody achieve their
goals and knowing I was a part
of that. I look forward to meet-
ing you all, I cannot wait to get
started!!
We wish Bridget well for her
forth coming wedding and we
look forward to her classes
commencing from 9/3/12
after she returns from her
honeymoon!
Summer Workshop 2012
Meet our new teachers
in QLD and have recently
moved to Hobart to be with my
family, including my sister
Teagan, who is a student of
Encore.
I am 26 years old and started
dancing when I was 6. For the
past 4 years I have been
teaching Classical Ballet at the
RITZ performing arts school in
Brisbane. My early dance stud-
ies were in learning under the
R.A.D syllabus where I pro-
gressed to the major levels.
After gaining qualifications in
childcare working with chil-
dren on a remote wheat prop-
erty I set off to work in London
and travel around Europe.
Whilst in London I took classes
at the well known Pineapple
Dance Studio.
On my return to QLD I complet-
ed my classical examinations
in CSTD (Commonwealth Soci-
ety of Teachers of Dance) and
attained my Classical Ballet
Teachers Qualifications. I Have
a real passion for teaching
and believe in encouraging my
students to achieve their per-
sonal best through a fun and
supportive environment. I am
very excited to be a part of the
Encore team!

General Information
What to Wear to Dance
An important part of any dancers training is to encourage good grooming and presentation. Appropriate attire allows teachers to see
bodyline and movement and be able to give necessary instruction to promote the students progress. Listed below are uniform re-
quirements for classes offered at the school. While these items are not compulsory for class attendance - they are preferred and are
required for students participating in dance assessments.
Hair should be pulled back neatly into a bun or ponytail for all classes. In dance it is vital that students are focused on the class work
and not be distracted by hair falling over the face. If students have short hair a headband to keep their hair from their face is advised.
Buns should be worn for classical ballet. No jewelry except watches and medic alert bracelets are to be worn in class. All other jewel-
ry can prove dangerous to others in class as well as be distracting.
Uniform/Practice Gear
Please make sure that you
always wear appropriate prac-
tice gear to class. We now
have a fabulous Encore Uni-
form available for order (see
order form attached). Please
note this is a suggested uni-
form and is not compulsory.
We also sell a fantastic range
of tights and dance shoes,
available from the office.
Please see ‘What to Wear’
below
