Newsletter March April 2016
Greetings!
I am so proud of our Unity community! As I write this, I’ve just experienced switching our
Sunday service from the sanctuary to Fellowship Hall because of the cold temperatures, and I am
once again grateful and full of wonder at the way you all step up! It seems that all we need to do is
put the thought out there, and someone steps up to make it happen. THANK YOU! We were able
to have our service, and we were able to participate in welcoming and blessing a new life—that of
Rev. Stephanie’s granddaughter, Cassie. I am so pleased that we were a part of that
beautiful blessing.
And speaking of putting thoughts into action: at the beginning of the year Rita Behofcist created a
list of possible activities we could do together as a community (we published that
list in the January/February newsletter). Helen King looked at it and envisioned a
spring fair which incorporates a number of the list’s activities and raises money to
pay for our heating repairs. And Helen put that thought out there! Many of you
jumped at the chance to participate, and Julie Metzger volunteered to coordinate.
The fair is coming together. Watch for updates and ways to help. In the words of a
contemporary philosopher, “I love it when a plan comes together!”
We also have a spring book study in the works, monthly game nights and monthly
movie nights. There are many ways to participate in our Unity community.
We welcome five new members to our Unity community: Gerry Bush, Sheila Hall, Keven Kadel,
Amy Langer, and Hal Winters completed the new member class conducted by Dr. Darla Henry
and were welcomed into membership on February 21.
A snowfall can be beautiful and can give us an unexpected day or two to sit still and contemplate.
However, I have to admit to being excited that spring is nearly here. (Phil did predict an early
spring!) I’m eager to see the grass again and begin searching in the garden for the sprouts of
daffodils. Enjoy every day. Be grateful for all the blessings we each
have in our lives. You are some of mine!
Blessings!
Mary

March - Will
March 6 -- Dr. Dar la Henry – The Spiritual Ability of Will
From Willing and Able to Unwilling and Unable
“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for my sake will find it” (Mt. 10:39). This enigmatic statement refers to a form of giving up or losing one’s personal life and the finding and living from the life of the Christ within, which is the universal life—the life abundant. We cannot be transformed simply through will power, yet we must be willing to allow transformation to occur. How will we use our spiritual ability of will? March 13 – Sharon Hillman – The Spiritual Ability of Will: Choice (Daylight Savings -- Set Clock Ahead)
Confusion to Clarity When we are discontented it gives rise to confusion and doubt concerning our life, and we begin seeking relief so that we may feel better. Our discontent may cause us to make hasty decisions for fulfillment. When we choose to “spiritually” activate our will from wisdom, discernment and intuition, our choices lead us to a path of fulfillment. March 20 – Rev Ann Marie Acacio – The Spiritual Ability of Will: Commitment
Entering Through the Narrow Gate “The author defines the ‘narrow gate’ as selective attention, which is the result of making a commitment. Together we will experience this next step in harnessing our spiritual power, through the lens of Palm Sunday!”
March 27 – Rev Stephanie Seigh – The Spiritual Ability of Will: Willingness
Taking Jesus Off the Cross
A very special Easter Sunday, as we “take Jesus off the cross” and celebrate the power of resurrection in our own lives. Are we willing to take Jesus off the cross and take his teachings into our hearts? “The symbolic language of the crucifixion is the death of the old paradigm; resurrection is a leap into a whole new way of thinking.” --Deepak Chopra Jesus is the supreme example of being willing to be an instrument of peace. ************************************************************************************
++ Divine audacity is bold spiritual living, living under the radical premise that I AM divine. My nature
is one with the divine nature of GOD. I am able to boldly express the highest spiritual principles in the
middle of everyday situations. I am courageously responsive. I am fearlessly self reflective and self
corrective. I am intentional in large and small aims. I valiantly champion the goodness within myself
and within each person I encounter. I hold myself accountable for thoughts, words, and actions that are
not in integrity with my Divine Identity. I dare to ignore the way things are and what cannot be done,
bringing about the seemingly impossible. (continued on next page)

APRIL – IMAGINATION
April 3 - Dr. Darla Henry – The Spiritual Ability of Imagination
Reality of just a Figment of Your Imagination?
…And God created the world…What lies beneath those “somethings” imagined or created by our mind?
Are they real or ‘just figments’? What is the level of consciousness, sense of awakening that lies be-
neath the surface towards the urge to activate the intentions of our imagining? “Seek ye first….”
April 10 - Sharon Hillman – The Spiritual Ability of Imagination: Conception
Believe, Perceive, Conceive
We are all of the One Mind, the highest source. Believing this source is the highest intelligence, we are blessed with the power of imagination to conceive and create. "The character of the consciousness deter-mines the quality of its imaginings."
April 17 – Rev Keven Kadel – The Spiritual Ability of Imagination: Vision
Catch Your Vision Asleep or awake, your imagination is part of your stream of thought. The spiritual sojourner strives to direct the power of imagination toward the most positive and constructive side of life. It is high spiritual practice to catch a vision by merging the power of your imagination with Living Spirit’s expansive posi-tive possibilities. April 24 -- Rev Ann Marie Acacio -- The Spiritual Ability of Imagination: Embodiment
The Pinnacle of Creation! "Was Jesus' life purpose any different from ours? What would our lives be like as we audaciously em-
body our vision for our lives? This is our next spiritual practice.
************************************************************************************
++(continuation of quote from Divine Audicity)
I suspend belief in the limitations that seem inherent in human existence to stretch beyond my known
capacity. I disregard appearances to hold a vision of what can be so steadily that it must manifest. I over-
look history, deriving my sense of direction instead from the source of life, love, and wisdom. I am not
crushed by the weight of my commitments, rather, I passionately fulfill my sense of purpose. I uphold the
world, all beings, and all intentions in the light of magnificent possibilities. I lift up rather than tear down.
I believe in the inherent goodness of all people.

We are so happy to have our regulars with us, as well as a new voice! Jonathan brings his amazing flutes; Kate brings her beautiful voice; Jamie and her guitar will delight us once more, and we welcome back the Unity Community Choir to uplift our hearts on Easter morning. In April we also have Kevin and his nimble fingers joining us for his wondrous solo performance (he's the other half of Voxology), Seasons brings the harp and dulcimer to our stage, and we welcome a new voice on piano/guitar; Genesis Lorraine, a singer/songwriter/teacher of exceptional talent.
Unity Community Choir begins rehearsals on Wednesday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. All are welcome to join us.
The Drum Circle has been cancelled for March, since Easter falls on our regular date. We will resume the Drum Circle on the last Sunday of the month, April 24, at noon in the sanctuary. All are welcome; we have plenty of instruments. Come and help us keep the beat going.
Communication team
We are entering into a partnership with Unity Worldwide Ministries to update our website to make it more interactive. We would like to form a Communications team to guide that effort.
The team would begin with about 5 members, and its focus will be on the website. Lois Batcheler and Mary Callaghan will lead the team initially. After the website is established, the team will broaden its scope to include other forms of communication. If you have exper-
tise you can share, or if you’re interested in learning and contributing, please contact Mary or Lois. All ages are welcome.

Most of the events we have at Unity go quite smoothly. Rooms are decorated, supplies are
always there, problems are taken care of and we assume this will continue. However, these
things do not occur or happen automatically. There are many members and friends who spend hours
creating this smoothness and fixing our problems. Here is a list of some of these folks:
Marie Clark: Marie does the seasonal decorations we see in Fellowship Hall. Every season there are
beautiful table decorations as well as arrangements on the fireplace mantel and window sills, creating a
festive and inviting atmosphere for our gatherings. Marie also organized the storage room, the garage,
and the storage area in the church. This is an on-going job, as new “contributions” seem to appear
frequently in these areas. Marie needs help in this organization. If you are willing to do this, please con-
tact her.
Susan Savko: In addition to being a platform chair, Susan is the one who provides the supplies for the
Fellowship Hall kitchen. She goes several places to purchase all the paper-ware, utensils, coffee supplies
and various other things that are there when we need them. Susan has been doing this for several years.
Barbara Beam: Barbara organizes the library along with her team of Allison Heiser and Liz Chronister.
The three of them have listed all the material and organized it into an efficient check out and check in
system. They have also organized and work on the bulletin board in Fellowship Hall. What was once a
hodgepodge of papers is now an easy to read space organized according to categories.
Snow shovelers: Barbara Beam is one of the first arrivers when we have snow and ice on our property.
She and her husband Rich live near the church, so they are able to arrive soon after any weather condi-
tions that need attention. We contract for snow plow removal around the main areas of our property, but
there are many places that need to be shoveled by hand and salted. Arlene Taylor, Rita Behofcist and
Barb and Rich Beam can be counted on to be there when needed. There are others who also step in to
help at various times. You may want to consider being one of those. Contact Barbara Beam if you are
willing to help with snow removal.
Richard Ward, Rich Wille, Todd Wrightstone, Joe Bedard, Sam Wille and Hal Winters have done many
maintenance fixes around the property. Several of them also replaced the deck on the back of Fellowship
Hall.
Bob McGinnis, Barbara Nelson, and Joe Bedard paid to have the parking lot patched.
I’m sure there are many others who have taken on a task that few of us even think about. Perhaps we
can all be more aware of the people who serve us and give a big “Thank You” to them. You may also
think about what you can contribute to our Unity
Family. The next time you see something that needs
taken care of, add your name to this list of volunteers.
Thank you
to the many who work behind the scenes

Our community has been planning a fund raiser, the proceeds from which will go
directly for the repair of our HVAC system. The goal is ambitious – that all goods
and services be donated from within the Unity Community. The event is the inspi-
ration of Helen King, Julie Metzer is the Chairperson.
Here is a partial list of the exciting things you will find:.
Raffle chaired by Joan Zurcher: includes a $500 gift certificate for the
Bewitched and BEDazzled Bed and Breakfast in Rehobeth Beach and a Lot-
tery Tree that includes chances for $1000/week for life, $100K, $90K, etc.
Silent Auction chaired by Leah Magestro: items will include
landscaping, pet sitting services, and personal healings and
consultations.
Crafts and Vintage Items chaired by Cecilia Ash: hand crafted jewelry
and paintings.
Flower Shop chaired by Diana Graham: plants, flower baskets
and repotting.
Sweets chaired by Karen Yandrick: a variety of baked goods including
cookies, pies, cakes and cobblers.
Lunch chaired by Gerry Bush: soup and more.
Health Services chaired by Fran Gresson: healing sessions, consultations, massages, etc.
Flyers/Posters by Helen Szollosy
Treasurer: Yvonne Troy
Scheduler: Susan Savko
Event Set up: Ellen and Hal Winters
Chairpersons and volunteers are needed for Soup Sales, Advertising, and
Event Clean Up. Consider volunteering your time or contributing an item to sell or auction. Additional
ideas are welcome.
We are truly blessed to have a community rich with talents and special gifts that are ready to be shared.
Please let your family, friends and neighbors know that this is an event not to be missed! We will provide
flyers, advertise in community newspapers and spread the message via Facebook.
Due to the large number of items and services, advanced orders for many things such as soups, baked
goods and healing sessions will begin late February/early March. Look for an announcement in the Sun-
day bulletin with exact dates.
Please contact event chairperson Julie Metzger at 717-645-3717 or [email protected] with questions or suggestions.

Favorite Quote:
To Soar
A will in me won’t settle for
Less than the more I ought to be.
I feel it strain against the tug
of the tether, hug of the downward rein.
Each particle throughout my whole
being, body and soul, feels the mystic pull
To be more than I have dreamed I might
be, child of light and the Most High
