The Opening Of Waipapa Thank you to our staff and community for supporting the blessing of our School Hall and the official opening last Thursday. Our halls new name was revealed: He manu o Waipapa Meaning: Seabirds of Waipapa. This was a special day for Murrays Bay School and a wonderful new beginning. We are grateful to our new Kaumatua, Matua Rawiri for his leadership in this event. Gold Coin Trail Please bring a gold coin on Friday for our gold coin trail to donate to the Nepal earthquake victims. Lets show our support! Collecting Your Child During The Day A reminder you need to go the office to collect your child and they will be called to the office for you, alternatively students will not be released from classrooms without release slips from the office so please don’t be offended if our staff don’t release your child without a slip. Pink Shirt Day On May 22 our School will be supporting “Pink Shirt Day” where we will be “All in Pink” to support students against bullying. Students are being encouraged to “Speak up Stand Together and Stop Bullying. Students are asked to bring a Gold coin and all proceeds go to the Mental Health Organisation. More info can be found at: http://www.pinkshirtday.org.nz . Thanks to our School Government for organising this event and keep an eye out for the posters they have created up in your child’s classroom! Maths Whiz The weekly Maths Whiz scores will now be collated on Sunday at 8pm. Any points earned after this time will go towards the next weeks totals. As part of Real Learning at Murrays Bay School, we are looking at redeveloping the sandpit and grass area beside the sandpit.. We are looking for landscape gardeners who would be keen to work alongside the students to develop a landscape plan.

School Driveway! 

The Murrays Bay School driveway is ONLY to be used by staff, guests and drivers with a disability pass. All students arriving at school by car for practices or after school care are to be dropped at the kiss and wave or in the bottom car park. Please do not be offended if you are asked to move your car by a member of staff or the community. Please note the Office car park is for office staff and is not to be used as a visitor car park. 

Physical and Development Programme Information Afternoon 

On Wednesday 27 May at 3.15 ­ 4pm in Room 13 there will be an information session about our Transition and Year One Programme including our “Bucket Test” and Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP). This session is mainly for parents of Transition and Year One parents. However, all parents are welcome. 

Parents please bring along your child’s “bucket’ test, it should be located in the portfolio.  School children and preschoolers will be looked after in Room 14.  

School Website ­ Letters Home We have had numerous queries as to where information regarding school activities/events can be found and many parents appear to be unaware that this information is updated regularly on our website.  On the main page of our school website we have a link for letters home.  All letters relating to school activities and sports can be found under this link.  Weekly Newsletters can also be found on the main website page.  Real Learning Request This term we have classes who are applying their real learning to improving Murrays Bay School. In order to do this we need sheets of exterior plywood. If you are able to help us out with sourcing, supplying exterior sheets of plywood, please contact Fleur Knight, the Real Learning Facilitator at [email protected]

 Hangi Lunch ­ Thursday 2nd July, pork or chicken rolls or vegetarian option. Pre­order your child's lunch ­ more details to follow.  Twilight Festival is booked for Saturday 31st October. First twilight festival meeting on 12th May at 7pm in the staffroom. Come and take a look at what we have planned and come and share your ideas/inspiration/time to make this event even better than last year!  We are looking for sponsorship (would your company like to sponsor a food stand, our advertisement, entertainment?) Do you know a band who might like to play at our festival? Do you (your work or your family and friends) have any items we can auction, use as spot prizes, use for Hampers for Raffles? Please get in contact with us ­ [email protected].   Suncream fundraiser ­ yes we are not doing chocolate this year but are encouraging you to sell suncream as a new fundraiser towards the End of Term 3. More information to come. 

 

 

 

 

The Parenting Through Separation programme is now running at Takapuna                   Normal Intermediate School.
