Triple Creek Jam Shack needs your help. Just like everyone else, we are being affected by the hard economic times. It has always been a balancing act to keep Triple Creek Jam Shack going in the black, but in recent months the balance hasn’t been so good. The crowds have been good, the shows have been great, the jams have been good, but the balance sheet has been out of balance.

Like that cup of coffee? Enjoy the lights being on whenever you need them to be? Like to have the kitchen available? Your donations are what keeps the Jam Shack going. Donate to the Pink Pig when you can.

Thanks to the bands that entertained us on Bluegrass weekend.

⇒ Roy and Friends!

Every weekend the phone starts ringing. We have the same questions, and here are the typical conversations that occur weekend after weekend:

Q—Are you having music this weekend?

A—This is Triple Creek, we have music EVERY weekend of the year, including all holidays.

Q—What time do you start playing?

A—We have our pot luck supper at 5:00 and we usually start playing around 6:00 when everyone is finished eating.

Q—Well, who is going to be there this weekend?

A—We never know who is coming, but there is always a group, and we always have fun.

Q—What is the charge to get in?

A—Just a smile on your face. We don’t charge...

If you enjoyed your stay here at Triple Creek, please go and post a note at www.tripadvisor.com. We have received many great reviews, but even more comments would be appreciated. The best form of advertisement is from our friends.

Triple Creek on the World Wide Web

This past summer we had several trees in the park die. Someone came up with the suggestion that we needed to do something more with these trees than just make fire wood out of them. Therefore, we have a fellow with a portable saw mill come in and start the process. Here he is in action.

Now, we’re not going to spoil the secret and tell you what’s going on, but you’ll have to look at future issues of the world famous Triple Creek Newsletter to keep up with the exciting process.

Its all happening here at Triple Creek RV. Aren’t you glad that you’re a part of it!

always a crowd pleaser and they didn’t let us down this time.

Later in the evening the Walker family (The Redhead Express) took the stage. At that time there was standing room only both inside and outside the Jam Shack. There were literally several hundred people trying to get a glimpse of these Nashville and Branson favorites as they performed.

If you weren’t at Triple Creek on Saturday the 25th, you missed a WONDERFUL event that will long be remem-bered as one of the best.

Around eating time (5 PM), the Jam Shack was filled to its capacity and then the people kept coming. There were jams going all around the park as the festive mood kept building.

Around 6:00 pm, Triple Creek’s very own (and well seasoned) group, “The Not Brothers” took the stage to warm up the crowd. They are

After the event we were all talking about how the fam-ily has grown in both their professional career as well as their personal lives.

Little known secret is that LaRae had a date while she was here. They are growing up, and just remember they started here in Triple Creek. We are so proud that they call Triple Creek their Texas home.

See additional pictures of all the other jams going on.

Triple Creek “LIVE” on KWUD radio.

Radio has often been considered one of the most personal forms of media. It brings the business to the people right in the comfort of their very own homes.

Karen is now talking on KWUD radio every Friday morning between 8:30 - 9:00 am. We’re trying to get the word out about all the good things going on at Triple Creek & the existence of Bluegrass music.. She might even

ask you to join her and play some music on the air! Thanks to Oscar Lyons, Charles Glenn, and Dean Bartholomew for doing that very thing on the Friday before Thanksgiving! More recently she has been joined by

Chuck Schultz, as well as Tommy Ferrell!

Karen talks about the specific instrumentation, and how Bluegrass has a distinguishing characteristic of featuring two, three, or four parts harmony. Unlike mainstream country music, bluegrass is traditionally played on acoustic

stringed instruments. The fiddle, five-string banjo, guitar, mandolin, and upright bass are often joined by the resonator guitar (also referred to as a Dobro) and harmonica.

We hope Alvin’s Blue grass jokes show up on

radio!

More pictures from the weekend when The Red-Head Express was at Triple Creek. People came from everywhere for this event. Its good to know that Bluegrass is so popular in our area. Pictured is just one of the many jams.

As all of you know, Marti Gras is a really big event here at Triple Creek. However this year, the weather didn’t cooperate with us. Traditionally we have a Marti Gras parade around the camp-ground with all the golf carts, tractors, motorcycles and bicycles. We throw beads and just have a good time.

Our parade was rained out, but we’ll be doing it again next year.

Just another picture of our man with the portable saw mill making it all happen. Notice the nice big slab of tree that he cut for us. He said that is the largest board that he has ever cut!

We have some really big plans for something to be made out of this.

EVERYTHING happens at Triple Creek.

During the month of February, we had an instructor come out and provide training for 14 people that wanted to acquire their Texas Concealed Handgun License. It was a day long event.

When the instructor walked in the Jam Shack, he asked anyone that had a gun on them to unload it and place it on the table. There were only a few people

that were carrying a single gun. However there was Ms Ethyl. Ms Ethyl took out one small gun and unloaded it, and put it on the table as instructed. Then she took out another gun that was a little larger and did the same. About the time we all thought she was finished, the pulled out a third gun that was much larger than the first two. Again, she unloaded it and put it on the table. She then sat down. The instructor looked at the guns in front of her, and then he looked at Ms Ethyl and said, “Since you are carrying so many guns, what is it that you’re afraid of”? Ms Ethyl grimly looked the instructor dead in the eye and sternly replied, “Not a Darn Thing”. No more was said about that subject.

Nature Trail The recent hurricanes destroyed the bridges on the nature trail that runs behind the Jam Shack. As a result, the trails have been in neglect and haven’t been used….UNTIL NOW. Thanks to the great work of both Gary and John, the nature trail will once again be ready for guests. They are doing a great job of cleaning it up and getting it ready. The new bridges are going to be much bigger and better able to withstand any surges of water that may come as a result of harsh weather. The new bridges are being constructed out of large utility poles with supports on both ends. We wouldn’t be surprised if they end up with some type of suspen-sion on them before they are finished. Be sure to thank John and Gary for their contribution to Triple Creek. The na-ture trail will be there long after they are gone. By the way, the original nature trail was made by Tolly & Connie. Thanks to them.

Our friends Rob and Tonya have left us. Their travels are currently taking them to old Mexico. We hope they stay safe and send us routine reports of their travels. If anybody hears from them, please pass on their messages. We miss them!

You can thank the work campers for all that they do as well! They are all a big help to keep Triple Creek RV the wonderful place we all enjoy… THANKS!

We would like feedback and Bluegrass articles from our readers. Tidbits or article(s) can be: an amusing quote; reviews of festivals or music conventions; behind the scenes reports of bands; technical; RV & campground reviews; or anything you feel would be of interest to Bluegrass enthusiasts. Articles may span more than one issue, and full credit will be given. A special surprise for TJ for Graduation! Karen if you would pass this on to anyone at Triple Creek who might want to send a note for Theron either by mail or email to [email protected] Thank you so

much! We miss all of you and talk about Triple Creek to everyone. You all helped inspire Theron’s music more than you will ever know. Please see the attached description of a tradition Newsome High has for their Graduating Seniors called the Blue Letter Envelope. If you would like to take a minute to write a brief note for Theron I think it would mean a lot to him. Feel free to mail it to the address listed OR since we have this wonder thing called the internet please feel free to email it to me at this email address and I will be happy to print them and get them to the High School for his Blue Envelope. I thought this would be especially nice and meaningful since we do not have much family close by (other than Orlando!) I’ll be sending you your pictures and announcements soon! But I wanted to give you time to write a note and get it in. Thank you all for being such a positive influence in Theron’s life. You all mean so much to us!

Blessings—Rae Malee Walsh

Following our wonderful Newsome tradition, we are once again encouraging relatives, friends and teachers of our 2012 graduates the opportunity to honor our students through the Blue Letter Envelope.

Parents or guardians please notify grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers, friends, clergy, neighbors or anyone who has mentored or positively influenced your child’s life to send a special note of congratulations on his or her upcoming 2012 graduation. We encourage you to send a request AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to family and friends through e-mail, telephone or text. This will give everyone plenty of time to think of what they would like to say to the special graduate. The PTSA will carefully collect all the notes/cards/well wishes sent to the school. We will keep them safe and confidential until the Senior Breakfast where every senior will receive a large Blue Envelope filled with all the well wishes and congratulations! Please fill their Envelopes! Dead-line is May 09, 2012. You may photocopy or scan this letter and send to all your family and friends. This is a surprise event for each of the graduates so please remember to keep it confidential! Please do not delay! It WILL be here before you know it.

You can drop off your cards and letters at the front office or you can mail them to the school using the following information: STUDENTS FULL NAME c/o Debbie Edwards Newsome High School PTSA – BLUE LETTER ENVELOPES 16550 Fishhawk Blvd. Lithia, FL 33547 Let’s show the Class of 2012 that they are indeed special to us, and that we acknowledge their achievements of the last twelve years!! Original Bass This is the tub bass that Karen saw while traveling in New York State. It is the basic model. Moving the "pump handle" up and down is what gives the bass the different pitches. The neck of this fine instrument is short enough to allow you to set down and play. This item comes in a cardboard box ready for your assem-bly, which is pretty much straight forward.

If you are interested in purchasing such a refined instrument such as this, contact Karen , and she will tell you all the details.

Deluxe Model This is the model that Karen has for herself. It can be seen in action here at the Creek almost any time there is music played.

Triple Creek’s Work campers

Please welcome John & Christine.

These two came in for a weekend, and now are staying on as Work campers. They have already been part of almost everything going on, and certainly do fit in. You’ll love Christine, as her email ad-

dress is Loves2cook. Now what does that tell you about her?

John has some wonderful ideas of things he wants to get done around here, and we welcome his energy. Look for some great things to come! In fact. John is quite the outdoorsman. He and Gary have started work on the nature trail that was in poor shape after the hurricanes. They have started clearing the trail, and have started rebuilding the bridges. Look for a wonderful nature trail to be opened up again. If I’m not wrong, I believe that Charles Glenn initially developed the trail, and will probably have a hand in re-opening it. We can’t wait for the results. Spring is coming John, get er’ going!

BINGO

Are you interested in playing BINGO? We host a “White Elephant” BINGO every Monday evening. Just bring any White Elephant that you have laying around and donate as a prize. Its not only a great way to have fun, but its also a wonderful way to get rid of those little things around the house that just need to go.

Charlie provides Church services

Our Canadian friend Charlie Patton came in and provided us with church services. He sang some absolutely beautiful spiritual music. We listened and enjoyed ourselves as Charlie then went on and told some heart moving stories. Next time he is passing through Triple Creek, we’ll announce his presence and insure that more people can take advantage of listening to his message.

This “tradition” is now being continued by Tommy Ferrell. Tommy just started living here in the park, and we have asked him to provide us with a church service. He very graciously has accepted. He’s a wonderful musician, and uses his voice and music to spread the Lords word.

Ol’ Dudley goes national.

It all started here at Triple Creek with Ms Audrey cooking for her Dudley. Now this famous breakfast filled with homemade biscuits and gravy has hit the big time. We don’t know if its her eggs, bacon or potatoes that put it over the top, but it’s a won-derful meal.

People come from everywhere and carry the fame of Triple Creek to the four corners of the world. Its really great being part of this life style.

Please contribute to Ol’ Dudley Day so this wonderful tradition can continue.

$$$$$$ Notice of Change to Camping Rates $$$$$$$

Starting April 1st we will have a rate increase for camping. Everything continues to increase, and we have maintained our low, low camping rates for the past 5 years. We greatly appreciate those people that help us with the chores around here that let us provide affordable camping rates to all our friends and visitors.

Here is what the changes are going to look like: ⇒ Nightly rates will increase from the current $18/$20 to $20/$22. This is for 30 and 50 amp ser-

vice respectively. ⇒ Weekly rates will increase $10/month to $100 and $120. ⇒ “Camp & Store” rate will be $130/month + electricity. ⇒ Full-time monthly rate will NOT change. It will remain at a thrifty $200/month + electricity. Remember that the cost for electricity is passed along for the exact price that we pay for it.

VETERANS DAY In honor of our many veterans, we will reduce your weekend fee by 50% on that weekend.

Camping Discounts—After the last Newsletter went out, we had a request for camping discounts. Well, Triple Creek RV does offer four (4) different discount club memberships. Not only that, but we will give your camping club a discount if you have a rally at TCRV for 10 or more rigs. If you have a suggestion for a specific monthly discount, just let us know, and we may try it. We appreciate your ideas.
