The Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica approved the Free Trade Agreement between Costa Rica and Colombia, which will contribute to expanding the foreign trade platform and deepening trade and investment with South America. "This treaty is a modern instrument, which creates opportunities for market access in both directions, strengthens business generation and trade, and encourages investment", said the Minister of Foreign Trade, Anabel González. During the period 2003-2013, trade between Costa Rica and Colombia grew by 65%.

The Colombian Vice-Minister of Foreign Trade, Claudia Candela, presented trade balance figures of about 20 months corresponding to the free trade agreement in force with the US, to an audience of over 100 entrepreneurs at the sixth ANALDEX forum (National Association of International Commerce of Colombia).
