1 Principal’s Message Kia Ora Whanau The end of the year is fast approaching us, in fact too fast. End of year activities are arranged and we hope that you can take the time to join us. Next Monday, Y4-6 parents will have a chance to hear more about BYOD at school. We feel this is a good time to discuss this with parents as Santa requests will be coming. More information is included in this newsletter. Planning for 2017 is well under way. Once the year has started, there will be some more ‘Drop in’ sessions for parents to come and chat about how collaborative practice (teachers working together) adds value to your children’s learning. We hope in the future to have open times for parents to pop in and see the spaces working. I’m also keen to hold some ‘curriculum over coffee (instant!)’ sessions next year too. These will be for parents to understand what we teach and why. It’s also a great chance for us to hear your thoughts. Make sure to use the school calendar on the website to look for key dates in Term 1. We will be heading on the biennial walk up the Kaituna valley. Once again, we do enjoy having parents and families joining us. Provisional class lists will be out next week in the foyer between Waikirikiri and Te Ahu Patiki. These are subject to change as new enrolments arrive between now and the start of 2017. The pool is now open so break out the togs! Enjoy the warm weather. Nā mihi nui Mike Molloy Principal Penguin Awards Congratulations to Kaden and Crispin who received the Penguin Awards for Thinking. Term 4/ Issue 20 / 24 November, 2016
