Year 12 Sports Leaders

Students preparing for the Level 3 Cambridge Technical in Sport led sports events in the two weeks

before Easter. The organisers were very ambitious this year and the events were exceptionally good.

They now have to review and evaluate their contributions and the delivery of the event in order to

achieve their grades. Liam Andrews, Arthur Carter, Ben Daniels and Harry Bowen organised a

football tournament for all the 125 Year 7 students are Westacre Middle School. Kaitlin Fletcher,

Jennifer Gearey, Katie Meakin and Jesika Jordan organised an extracurricular badminton event,

open to all within our school. Adam Keen, Joshua-Cain Priest and Lewis Simmons organised a two-

hour football tournament for our own Year 8 boys.

Winter Worcestershire School Games

On Monday 8th of April, eight elite Droitwich Spa athletes went to the Winter Worcestershire School Games held at The Bromsgrove School. The morning was spent in the athletes’ village experiencing the climbing wall, dance classes and collecting stickers and wristbands. In the afternoon the event got under way and all the students competed to their best of their abilities, consistently finishing in the top 2 or 3 in every running, throwing and jumping event. The points total kept on rising and resulted in Droitwich Spa High School finishing second, rating them the second best athletics team in Worcestershire. The approach, maturity and effort of these girls was exemplary and their achievement was well deserved. Emma Sabel, Bella Allen, Sophie Howard, Holly Hulston, Alex Harrison, Lymara Lines, Hattie Grainger, Rose Baker.

Spring Concert The Spring Concert was a thoroughly enjoyable evening of performances from students in every year

group from 8 through to year 12. They showed impressive skills and creative flair as they performed a

wide variety of musical styles, including Baroque and Classical pieces, songs from Musical Theatre,

Jazz standards and Pop music from the 1960’s to the present day. Particular mention should be made

of the students in the year 8 and 9 class bands, for whom this was their first concert since starting to

learn their instruments in January. They showed professionalism and courage, performing their items

skilfully and already demonstrate a high level of musicianship. Thanks also to Kobie Morris for

providing excellent lighting for the concert and to Katie Bowen and Ben Daniels who were our very

articulate comperes for the evening. Congratulations to all of the performers for an excellent

evening’s entertainment.

catwalk at the last minute when one of the models was unable to take part.

Year 10

10S1 made an excellent first attempt at writing about unseen poetry with some really insightful and

mature responses. Kirsten Porte’s essay was particularly outstanding.

10G6 worked very hard on a second English Language assessment. They all demonstrated real

resilience and many improved their grade significantly. Brad Eversham and Aaliiyah Cowell did

especially well, with both managing to achieve grade 4 overall.

10G4 Science have been working really hard on a very difficult topic.

George Hemming has had an impressive season as part of a local Men’s hockey team. In his first

season of being able to play at this level, he has won player of the year.

Year 8

Students in 8RD working really hard on an Easter egg trail which involved problem solving without a

calculator.

Logan Callow in 8RD has produced an outstanding piece of homework, impressing with his use of

diagrams and logical way of setting out his work.
