Thank you to my Beta Delta Sistersfor supporting my young friend, Fey,last year in having a busy and fun-filled summer. We are now applying

for camperships with the Girl Scouts, the Y, the city of Encinitas, and SanDieguito United Methodist Church forthis summer's activities. She wouldlike to attend two weeks at CampWinacka's horseback riding session. She would like to be a Leader inTraining and a Counselor in Trainingat local day camps because sheloves working with kids. And shewould like to attend the Sierra

Service Project work team on anIndian reservation. There mighteven be an opportunity to go tochurch camp. It's very ambitious,

but she wants to keep busy, andshe loves to learn. If we getscholarships, they usually onlycover about 75%, so we need tocome up with the rest. So I'mthanking you in advance for yourgenerosity and support for thisworthy young woman!

    New Directory Editor Needed

All that is needed is basic word processing skills! A member isneeded to take over the yearly updating of the Beta Delta

Directory. Nancy Hair will continue doing the member pictures andinformation pages, but someone is needed to complete the rest.Nancy Hair is willing to offer support and assistance, if needed.

Please let our new president-elect, Sandi Hadder, know if you areinterested.

    An exciting Spring Awaits!

    Februarys gathering began with a

delicious Mexican buffet providedby Team C, complete with musicalinstruments and singing! Theprogram highlight was orientationfor our incoming members. It wasan inspiring reminder of why webelong to this wonderfulorganization, and all theopportunities to commune with ourlocal sisters as well as sistersfrom around the state, nation andthe world.

Linda Hosaka started the eveningoff with a fun puzzle, whichfocused on famous women andtheir accomplishments. Members

shared their favorite memoriesand events from DKG asPresident Christina shared the

PowerPoint presentation aboutthe society. Members were onceagain encouraged to attend theArea Celebration and Chi StateConvention. All forms wereavailable at the meeting andmonies were collected for theArea Celebration. (Beta Deltahas 25 reservations for the AreaCelebration!)

For the first time, we will have asecond February meeting! OnFebruary 26 we will meet at KingMiddle School in Oceanside forour annual planning program.

Bring all your creativity andideas for our 2014-2015meetings. There are so many

possibilities: communityawareness presentations, artsand music, crafts,exercise...bring all those ideas tmake next year the most funever! Remember to bring $5 foa salad and pizza supper!

The Pound in the Round winnerat the last meeting was LindaHosaka...a collection of soothinteas was her special treat!Donations of $106.00 have beesent to the STARsprogram. Donations at the nextmeeting will go to Love on aLeash. You have to play to win

Time to Get Involved. As we get ready to plan for 2014-2015, we are asking ALL members to take an active role in our chapter. It isimperative that each of us takes on a responsibility in order to sustain our membership. If the same peoplecontinuously are called upon to volunteer, eventually, they will tire, and ultimately take a backseat in our chapter. We have a lot of talent! We are so fortunate to have so many active members. At our next meeting, please sign upfor a new committee. Many of our members have served on these committees for YEARSlike 5 or 10. Not cool.

We are all busy- but signing up for a committee doesnt mean you will have to do more- it will just be different. Ournew Executive Board is excited to support and develop our chapter. It takes ALL of us to make this beautiful chapterrun efficiently and make the greatest impacts on our schools, our communities, and ourselves. Thank you inadvance for your service and commitment to Beta Delta, Chi State, and DKG.

    Dear Members of Chi State,

You are invited to participate in the pilot testing of the new Teachers Helping Another Teacher (THAT) reporting system which allowsindividual members of the Society to report their volunteer hours directly to Chi State Early Career Educators (ECE) Committee througha quick four step online process!

    1. The electronic link for the form is e-mailed to every single member in a chapter. The recipient opens her e-mail and clicks on thelink.

    2. The link opens a form in an internet browser.3. The individual volunteer member enters the information in the simplified fields.4. The members clicks the "Send" button on the bottom of the form.THAT's it! It's done!

The pilot testing of the system is scheduled until March 15, 2014. This will allow the ECE Committee to monitor the data entry processand address any tech glitches. Members are encouraged to e-mail ECE at [email protected] their feedback. All dataentered during the pilot process is for testing the system and will not be considered as part of the chapter's biannual submission ofhours.

It is recommended that in chapters where majority of members do not have access to a computer or the internet, a laptop/ipad stationbe setup at a chapter meeting where these members can bring their data on a piece of paper, sit at the computer, complete the form(with help if needed) and submit right there.

At the end of this pilot test ing, antic ipating no technical issues, a new electronic link will be shared with members of Chi State for theofficial reporting of the volunteer hours for the spring collection (due April 1).

To participate in the pilot, use this address:https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qO3g8rSUtYoN01Q9ptaS4uJAxA3GbCZ1kp4tuljfs20/viewform

Thank you for your support. We would love to hear from you regarding this pilot. Please e-mail us at [email protected]

Try out the new THAT Reporting System Fancy!
