Term 2 - Week 10 Wednesday, 24 June 2015
Acting Principal’s Report
What a wonderful time we had dressing up for I want to be… Day. Students and parents are to be commended on outstanding costumes! They really were fantastic! And it was so great to be able to raise money for such a good cause as well. Thank you, everybody, for your participation.
Thank you for a wonderful term. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Acting Principal, and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and grow with you all through this experience. It has not been without its challenges, but I have loved every minute of it. Thank you to parents, carers, students and community members for being the wonderful people that you are, and for all the ways that you contribute to making our school what it is.
Next term we will welcome Ellie Moore, which will bring more positive change to our school. I am excited to see the experience that Ellie will bring to Tallong Public School, and how we as a school community will benefit from her being here.
School will resume for students on
Tuesday 14 July.
Have a wonderful, safe, restful break!
L. Matthews
Acting Principal
IMPORTANT
Before & After School Care
All outstanding fees MUST be paid immedi-ately. None of the service providers have been able to be paid for the last several weeks due to outstanding invoices. This is placing the BASC in jeopardy of continuing next term. It is part of the BASC policy that all fees are paid in advance.
Attached to this newsletter is a booking form for anyone requiring BASC for Term 3. Please complete the form and return it to Kim or Chrissy before the end of this term, so plans for the future of BASC can be made.
Please help support this worthwhile program and keep Before and After School Care active in our school.
Social Media Please be very careful when airing grievances via social media, as often these things are not as private as you may think. It is of the utmost importance that you never, ever mention teachers, parents and or students names on Facebook etc. If you have issues with teachers or students at the school, please come and speak with the principal.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
In case you’re losing track, below is a remind-er of how many books students need to read to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) by August 21
st. As there is no borrow-
ing from the school library over the holidays, students could take this opportunity to read some non-PRC books of their own choice. Students can read up to 5 books of their own choice.
Keep in mind that Year K-2 students can include books read with someone, or that have been read to them by someone else. Mrs Friday and Miss Matthews have been reading lots of PRC books to the Koalas’ class. Mrs Friday will add these books to student online records by the end of this term. This will help K-1 students reach the 30 book PRC goal. Keep reading!
It would be fantastic if you could also log books read on the Premier’s Reading Challenge web site using your child’s DEC login and password, students should know what their logins are (if not, see their class teacher). The web site is:
https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html.

Small School Soccer
Competition
Tallong vs Wingello \Penrose
Soccer Report
We went to Wingello School to play our
first soccer game.
At the start we were neck and neck we
were waiting in suspense. The whistle
blew, the ball was kicked, and the game
was on. The scores were even until
Jack Steward got the first goal. Then
Alex got one, then Micah scored the
third goal then Jaxon got one. The half
time came.
We ate oranges, lots of oranges!
The Second half soon began and soon
we were back scoring TONS of goals.
Jack Newman got the next goal then
Jaxon then with 10 seconds left on the
clock Jack Newman got the last goal.
Olivia Steward and Logan were
excellent defenders and helped keep
the Wingello/Penrose attack at bay.
Wingello were excellent hosts, they
made the parents feel welcome with tea
and biscuits and were very good sports.
We look forward to our next game.
