Books for Africa PrecampaignIPSF NEWSLETTER Issue N°89
Internat ional Pharmaceut ica l Students ’ Federat ion
Hello everyone,
On behalf of the International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF)’s humanitarian subcommittee, we would like to invite you and your association to join & support our international book drive for the children in Africa.
We believe that books are the foundation of a strong education system and a strong education system is beginning of hope, and ultimately better public health. Book donation is a simple idea that can create a transformative impact in a local community.
At this time, we would like to call on all IPSF members to join in the support of this international book drive. Any donation, big or small, can make a world of a difference for these children. We would be honoured if you or your organization would join us for this worthwhile humanitarian project.
Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email us at [email protected] or [email protected] .
You can also learn more about how to do your own book donation drive by reviewing the campaign kit attached.
Kind regards,
Sharon Leung

WHY THIS CAMPAIGN?
The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF) is the main advocate for pharmacy students worldwide. One of our aims is to promote improved public health through the provision of education, information, networking and a range of publication and professional activities. Education is a huge part of our lives-it is why we are all involved in IPSF and the reason we have the opportunity to make a difference in the world.
Books for Africa provides books to schools, libraries, orphanages, community centres and other places. BFA has found that 46 million African children have never set foot in a classroom and those that have share one textbook with 10-20 other children.
Three boys show off the BFA books they were given as a reward for helping set up a community library in The Gambia.

Knowledge is one of the most powerful gifts that can be given-a donation of books is more than just a donation-it is a life changing opportunity.
Through a network of pharmacy students, friends and colleagues, we can work together to help quench the thirst for knowledge of thousands of people around the world. We are able to easily access books and we can provide this access to others who are less fortunate.
This newsletter has been designed to provide you with some ideas on how to run your campaign and how to encourage people around you to help contribute to this worthy cause. Together we can work towards ending the book famine in Africa. Together we can make a change.
At the end of this newsletter you will find ideas for planning a s u c c e s s f u l campaign and some useful links that will provide you with some further information.
