FROM THE GREENS
The course is doing very well despite the
extreme temperatures throughout the
past few weeks. Our fountain is under
repair and should be back in the pond
shortly. Number 2 bunker is open and
when it cools down it will be top-dressed
and reseeded. Number 9 bunker will be
undergoing a renovation. We will be add-
ing drainage, reshaping, and filling with
new sand. Thank you again for the sand
donation! The front of Number 16 green
will be shortened to help prevent balls
from rolling down into the ap-
proach. (continued on Page 2)
Pro Shop News
July brought us a busy month for tournaments and activity around the pro shop!
The month kicked off by our ever popular (23
foursomes) Veteran’s Appreciation Tourna-
ment held on July 4. The winning team of
Jack Miller, Kyle Miller, Chris Lopes and
Jesse Titus shot an impressive four -person
scramble score of -17 54 to take the title. A
special thank you to Gary Powlus for running a
great event and honoring our veteran’s after
the tournament in the banquet room. On July 8,
9, and 10 we hosted our 54th Annual Berwick
Invitational. We had a full field of 100 teams
battling it out for the prestigious crowns!
When it was all said and done, Chris Walzer
and Jason Troutman won by two shots over
Pete Coughlin and Radd Lukas by shooting
three better ball rounds of 66-64-70 (-13---
200). Bill Coiley and Carl Benjamin went
wire to wire for the win with scores of 69-69-
71 (-4---209) for a 4 shot win over Tony
Grabowski and George Jones!

Tony Matucci has been a member at the
BGC for many years. Tony was part of the
“bridge crew”, and painted ceiling tiles for
hours during the renovation of the Banquet

years. Thanks Tony for contributing to our
Club and for catching and releasing the
bass you catch in the pond!!
Special Thanks!

Thanks to our grounds crew, John Kocher, Sam Kuhn, Joe Felock, and Paul Ca-potosto for applying r iver stone around the Clubhouse. What an improvement!
Not seeing any weeds in the river stone around the Clubhouse? Sam Kuhn has been called “Mr. Round-up”! Thank you Sam!

The newly painted railing on the deck
looks great! Thanks to Tom Fetterman,

President’s Message
I am pleased to announce we have successful-ly completed the refinancing of our current mortgage with First Keystone Community Bank. In addition to the mortgage, our Clubhouse will have installed a new HVAC system, an additional on-demand hot water heater, and funding to complete new LED lighting in all buildings as well as outside units. Our current boiler is antiquated, many of our A/C units require constant re-pairs, and our lighting fixtures are not energy efficient. The new propane heating system is 95% efficient and will save us a substantial amount of money on our heating bills. Two independent firms estimated our electricity savings at $750.00 per month using all new LED lighting. I thank our Board of Directors for their extra time to bring this project to fruition. I also thank Jason Hollaway and the Board of Directors at FKCB for working diligently on the process.
Please join me in welcoming Vito Covino Jr. to the Board of Directors. Vito will finish the term of Tom Cicini who resigned recently. Vito has volunteered in the past by organizing our annual Glow Ball event, Million Dollar Shootout, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters tour-nament, and plays in the Thursday night league. His service to these events is greatly appreciated.
Our 54th Invitational was a huge success! One hundred teams enjoyed great weather, challenging golf, delicious food, and a wel-coming atmosphere from the BGC staff. This tournament has earned a lot of respect and is known as one of the premier events in the area. Congratulations to champions Chris Walzer and Jason Troutman who com-bined for a three round score of 200. Bill Coiley and Carl Benjamin won the Senior Division with a score of 209. Thanks to Mike and the grounds crew and member volun-teers who worked for weeks to prepare for this event. Jon and his staff did a great job in the Pro Shop as did Guy and the wait staff
who provided great food and service. I also thank Steve Rudy for his help with scoring in the Pro Shop, Mike Lally for announcing, and Tony Matucci and Bill Allison who served as marshals. A great weekend for the BGC!!
Congratulations to Dick Brewington who captured the Senior Club championship, Chris Lopes on winning the Super Senior Gold Tee Division, and Tom Huntington who won the Super Super Senior Green Tee Divi-sion. The above group plays often, practice regularly, and deserve much credit for their victory. Great job guys!
The team of Kay Hoosty, Carol Vezendy, Diane Brown, and Debbie Catalano won this year’s Ladies Member-Guest with a two best ball of four score of 127. June Trudnak, Jane Kosteva, Mary Jo Kuczynski, and Rikki Nevins won the net division with a score of 137. All who played enjoyed our course, ate great food, and had a fun day! Congratulations ladies!
The month of July was a busy month for the
BGC! I want to thank our members and their
guests for continuing to support our Club.
The staff and the Board of Directors look
forward to an exciting month of August!

From the Greens (continued from page 1)
I am excited by the recognition that the course conditions and our hard work have been getting. I am also very encouraged by the number of players that have golfed at our club during the many tournaments that BGC has host-ed. I am hopeful that this continues and will bring in the revenue that our course needs to continue to make nec-essary improvements.
