PRINCIPAL’S PATTER

Hello Everyone,

With the end of the school year fast approaching, we still have lots to do

before the students break up on Thursday 13th December.

The Year 6 Graduation will be held on Friday 7th December, commencing

at 9.00 am, and we would like to invite parents, grandparents and friends of

our graduating class to this special event.

Also, our annual class awards will be held on Tuesday 11th December,

commencing at 9.00 am and everyone is invited to attend.

The P&C is also funding a Slip and Slide fun day for all students on

Wednesday 12th December. They have hired two very exciting and fun

inflatable slip & slides for the day and all students will get a chance to come

down to the oval and play!

Please note that the school security gates are locked at approximately

3.30 pm each day, so parents need to ensure that they have left the school

grounds by this time – your assistance in this matter is much appreciated.

A reminder also that sporting equipment is not to be played with before or

after school.

Have a great weekend,

Peter Gates

Principal

will be held on Friday 7 December starting at 9.00 am in the

undercover assembly area. The Year 6 students are invited to attend a

special morning tea with their parents, grandparents etc., along

presentation to be held in the school library.

ANNUAL SCHOOL CLASS AWARDS - 2018

Our Annual School Class Awards will be held in our undercover assembly

area on Tuesday 11 December starting at 9.00 am. We would like to invite

all our parents, community members etc. to attend this very special morning

for our students.

Ciao a tutti,

Balcatta Primary once again will participate in one of its most popular Italian

incursions – a visit from the Gelati Van.

This will take place on Tuesday 27 November.

Students will have the opportunity to sample one of Italy’s most iconic

desserts.

All children from Kindy (Tuesday group) -Yr 6, will have the opportunity to ask

for and receive various types of Gelati ice-creams using the Italian terms

that they have been learning these last few weeks.

PRICES:

$3.00 – single cone

$5.00 – double cone or sundae cup – (seniors only)

Flavours include: Chocolate, Vanilla, Bubble-gum, Strawberry, Choc Mint &

Lemon & Mango sorbet.

I have been assured that the gelato does not contain egg, and the only

flavour that contains gluten is the Choc Mint. If there are any children with

severe allergies I would suggest you refrain from purchasing any ice-cream,

just as a precaution.

The children are asked to please bring the correct money on the day.

Buonissimo!!

On Tuesday 13 November, (Pre-Primary, Yr 1,

2) had a St John Ambulance incursion.

We discussed what an emergency is and what

to do if someone we see is badly hurt.

The students practised asking four important

questions to a partner during the incursion.

1. Can you hear me?

2. Can you open your eyes?

3. Squeeze their shoulders gently

4. Can you squeeze my hands?

Students all received a certificate, information card and

activity booklet.

The Yearbook & Whole School Photos are now available to view and purchase on the schools Web Gallery. Parents and students, who wish to access the gallery, please follow the procedure below:

PERSEVERANCE virtue for November

What is Perseverance?

Perseverance is being purposeful and steadfast. It is sticking to something, staying committed, no matter how long it takes or what obstacles appear to stop you. A good example is the story of the tortoise and the hare. The tortoise won the race

because he persevered. He didn’t let anything stop him or distract him. He kept on going.

Why Practise It? Without perseverance, people give up on things easily. They don’t keep their promises. When we persevere, people can depend on us to finish what we started and to keep our commitments. When we persevere, we stay friends even when the friendship is tested. We don’t give up until a problem is solved.

Signs of Success Congratulations! You are practising perseverance when you:

• think before deciding to commit to someone or something

• pace yourself

• set goals and stick with them until they are completed

• take one step at time, remain steady

• don’t let doubts or tests blow you off course

• stand by your friends and loved ones

MAGPIE REMINDER

Most magpie attacks occur between August and

November when the chicks are in the nest, but, it can last

a little longer.

How to Avoid Being Attacked:

• The best way to avoid being attacked by a magpie is

to avoid entering nesting areas while the young are in

the nest – BE AWARE.

• If a magpie attacks once, avoid the park or take an

alternative route for several weeks (chicks remain in

the nest for around four weeks after hatching).
